10 Most Expensive Cities With US Money
With the US dollar struggling mightily, even against currencies like the Russian ruble, it’s a whole lot less of a bargain traveling with the green backs these days. But not all bad deals are created equal, so I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the 10 most expensive cities to visit with US money.
10)Helsinki, Finland
9)Frankfurt, Germany
8)Zurich, Switzerland
7)Reykjavik, Iceland
6)Osaka, Japan
5)Tokyo, Japan
4)London, UK
3)Copenhagen, Denmark
2)Paris, France
1)Oslo, Norway
There are a few different lists circulating around, but this one seemed to be the most accurate. Obviously there are different ways to measure the expense of a city but this list seemed to be pretty all encompassing; taking into account food, services, accommodation, entertainment and more.
And while Norway might be very expensive, you can always do a little ski jumping while you’re there. It will either be an unforgettable adrenaline rush that will be well worth the expense, or you’ll never have to worry about any debts ever again.
Contrary to popular belief though, budget travel with US money in expensive European cities is not totally dead. I’ve seen my new home of Amsterdam ranked as high as 14th in the world. And yes it can easily be very expensive, but there are some great ways to save money on a visit here. Look for some tips in the not too distant future.
