President Bush says he supports a full criminal investigation into the Mark Foley scandal. This is opposed to not supporting an investigation into a sex crime now that everyone knows about it. Good call from the party that prides itself on family values!

Mark Foley, the gay bashing gay pedophile Congressman from Florida stepped down after his suggestive emails to teenage boys were surfaced by the media. This was not new news to some Republicans who have known for a year, perhaps even House Speaker Dennis Hastert.

Many conservative Republicans are calling for Hastert to step down but he refuses. As House Speaker, Hastert normally has first dibs on the morning donuts. This helps give him his round dough boy charm. Bush supports Hastert’s claims that he did not know about the charges until Friday saying “I know Denny Hastert. I meet with him a lot. He is a father, teacher, coach, who cares about the children of this country.” Bush has a gut feeling about this one and his ‘let’s wrecklessly go forward without the facts with no apologies approach’ seems to work great according to him.

But the Foley scandal is a big problem for a party trying to win re-election with their signature ‘War on Terror.’ It’s what the Republicans do best and this is a big distraction from that at the moment. As a result, it is feared that many conservatives may stay home on the November 7th elections. But Bush supports an investigation so don’t worry. Let’s just get back to the ‘War on Terror’ ok.
