The founding fathers of this country placed checks and balances to help the nation from becoming a tyranny. The point of our government is to act slowly so that legislators do not act irrationally and have time to sort out issues before diving head first.

With the Republicans controlling the Executive and Legislative branches, the invasion of Iraq was easier. It has also been easier to make harsh decisions that negatively impact the American people in the short and long term.

The House of Representatives was set up to have elections every 2 years so that the people’s governing body could have less time to become tyrannical and corrupt. Tom Delay and company did a lot of re-districting to make changes in the House more difficult, but ultimately it was not enough to overcome the disenfranchisement of the American people.

Changes in government tend to shift in waves from left to right. The country had shifted too far right and it was time to get back on course for the good of Americans.
