Bush Open to New Ideas As Long As It Doesn’t ‘Change The Course’

Now that George Bush has officially been sirened by the American people, he is expressing an openness to new ideas, to a point. This despite Bush having a secret plan for Iraq, as voiced by ousted Montana Senator Conrad Burns.

Senator Carl Levin (D) Michigan, the incoming Armed Services Committee chairman, said “We need to begin a phased redeployment of forces from Iraq in four to six months.” Many Democrats are pushing for a timetable in some form, and while Bush says he is open to new ideas, this is out of the question for him.

Bush says ’stay the course’ does not mean ’stay the course’ because you make necessary changes. But no foreseeable exit strategy for Iraq does not say ‘change the course.’ We have been in Iraq far too long to have no exit strategy, and an openness to new ideas without one is simply unacceptable.
