Democrats Disagree on Ethics Reform

The Republican controlled 109th Congress was one marred with corruption. Many argue that the Democrats sweep of the House and Senate was a mandate on Iraq. Iraq was perhaps the biggest issue, but corruption and other factors played large roles as well.

One of the Democrats promises has been to clean up Washington. New House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has promised “the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history.”

Democrats want to limit the power that lobbyists have over Washington. Thing is, they are in a sticky situation because they owe the voters honesty while also owing lobbyists favors for campaign money. This leads us to ask a few questions…

1)Will lobbyists still get to write their own laws? Under the previous Congress, many laws for companies were written by companies. Often times, representatives voted on bills they barely read. But hell, who has the time right?

2)Is Dick Cheney still allowed to hang out with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia? It would be a shame to ruin a wonderfully corrupt friendship between two men that lack souls.

3)Will Dennis Hastert still get an unlimited supply of Dunkin Donuts delivered to his house by underpaid illegal immigrants?

4)Will the new Congress be in the front or the back of Lobbyists in the circle jerk conga line?

5)Will George Bush still get to do whatever the hell he wants?
