Who Is This Boehner?
Who is this Boehner you ask? Well, it’s none other than John Boehner, Republican House Representative from Ohio’s 8th district. Mr. Boehner was just elected House minority leader by the Republicans. He will guide them through the sure to be fun and possibly eventful 110th Congress.
Boehner replaces Dennis Hastert, who was the Republican majority leader under the old, underworked Congress. Hastert, wanting nothing short of supreme House leader, did not seek the minority leadership.
Boehner did not face any stiff competition in his bid, winning by a sizable margin of 168-27 over Mike Spence of Indiana. Thus, no recounts or measuring sticks were required here.
