Threat to Christmas and The War on Freedom
This is the Christmas card that Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen sent out this year. Seems innocent right? It’s just a painting of a Muslim girl he met on a trip to Afghanistan in March. The point of the card is to show that we are all God’s children and he cares about all of us.
Yeah, it’s unorthodox for a Christmas card but the point is tolerance and goodwill for all. This is just too much for some of the religious right though. Several ministers have come out and bashed the Governor for what they feel is a mockery of Christmas.
Yeah, god forbid the religious …read more

Europeans to Drive Up Cost of US Travel in 07′
Thanks to George Bush and European tourists, the cost of domestic US travel is expected to increase above inflation in 2007. Bush is at fault for devaluing the US dollar because of the Iraq war and tax cuts for the wealthy. With the US dollar down, it is cheaper for Europeans to visit the US.
More Europeans are expected to visit the US in 2007. This will create a higher demand for flights and hotels. American Express is projecting hotel prices in New York City to rise 18%! The San Francisco Chronicle reports that hotel prices in San Francisco will rise between 5-10%. The national average …read more

The Joys of Christmas Debt
Ho Ho Ho! Tis’ the season of celebration, goodwill and mass consumerism. The malls are filled with a shopping frenzy and it is reported that more people are buying just as many presents for themselves than for others. It’s part of the new 1:1 gift buying ratio rule. Giving is good, but getting and giving is even better.
We live in a needs based society and companies have no problem creating needs. In order to keep up with the Jones’ it is imperative you have that high definition big screen TV, despite whether you can afford it or not.
It is reported that 23% of …read more
Can We Get Some Impeachment Proceedings Please?
Today, George Bush said that extremists and radicals “can’t run us out of the Middle East.” The President seems to be leaning towards John McCain’s dangerous idea to increase troop levels. This despite the advice of the Iraq study group and military leaders.
Clearly, George Bush is incompetent, that is not hard to figure out and should have been evident before he was even elected. But the fact that he refuses to listen to sound advice that is contrary to his arrogant gut instinct is just ridiculous and dangerous.
If this continues next month, the new Congress’s first order of business should be impeachment …read more

Wal-Mart Off The Hook
A federal court ruled today that Wal-Mart cannot be held responsible for their worker’s rights overseas. We are not talking about the conditions of the suppliers here, but workers in actual Wal-Mart’s in countries like China.
There have been accusations of forced overtime without pay and workers being fired for trying to organize unions. Some of these workers thought they had some actual rights seeing as how they were working for an American company, you know, the bright beacon of freedom and all. Not so as the court ruled today. Wal-Mart is off the hook and it’s all good in smiley face …read more

What’s With All The Food Poisoning?
In the last few weeks we’ve seen two major restaurant chains make a lot of people sick. First it was Taco Bell, that’s not a huge surprise, they use Grade D meat. But Olive Garden? It’s nicer and corporate, so it’s super controlled.
These things happen but it’s curious that the Indianapolis Olive Garden made 300 people sick and it happened no place else. We’ve heard several possible reasons for the mass sickness. One linking a sick worker with making everyone else ill. That doesn’t make too much sense unless this is some super contagious person who should be locked up in quarantine.

Economy Plus?
Yes, Northwest Airlines offers convenient service to Minneapolis-Saint Paul, whether you like it or not. It, like several other airlines, has started charging extra for window seats. It’s called economy plus or as we like to call it, a total crock of shit.
When you do express check in and have already been assigned an aisle seat, if you try and change to a window seat you will get a new surprise, an extra charge of at least $15! Does economy plus include anything extra, like a sandwich or something other than fake friendliness? Nope, just the window.
It’s amazing how they are making flying suckier and …read more
