Wal-Mart Off The Hook

A federal court ruled today that Wal-Mart cannot be held responsible for their worker’s rights overseas. We are not talking about the conditions of the suppliers here, but workers in actual Wal-Mart’s in countries like China.

There have been accusations of forced overtime without pay and workers being fired for trying to organize unions. Some of these workers thought they had some actual rights seeing as how they were working for an American company, you know, the bright beacon of freedom and all. Not so as the court ruled today. Wal-Mart is off the hook and it’s all good in smiley face land.

It’s hard to avoid the occasional trip to Wal-Mart because they have everything there. But seriously, try not to buy too much of their shit. Pay the extra few cents and support small businesses, American jobs, workers rights, morals and fair trade. It kinda seems worth it.
