Anti-Aircraft Training in Iraq Going Well

This is the CH-46 Sea Knight transport helicopter. On Wednesday, one these was shot down outside Baghdad killing 7 people on board. This brings the total number of downed American aircraft to 6 in the past 3 weeks.

According to this article in the NY Times, top military personnel believe this is due to a shift in insurgent tactics combined possibly with some luck on their part. Luck huh?

Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said “I do not know whether or not it is the law of averages that caught up with us.”

Yeah perhaps, but it seems insurgents have been getting lucky a lot lately. If they have become so good at shooting down American choppers, why can’t they take control over their own security?

Oh yeah, they are in a sectarian conflict combined with the fact that they are sick of an American presence that has made them worse off then when Saddam was in power.
