The B5Media network:

Bush Supports Troops By Cutting Their Veterans Benefits

Today our President, the self proclaimed Decider, has issued his budget proposal to the new Congress. The $2.9 trillion dollar budget is for the 2008 fiscal year that begins October 1st.

The proposed Department of Defense budget is $481 billion, a $49 billion dollar increase over this year’s defense money.

President Bush has no problem in supporting the troops to fight and die, just not to care for them later on in life. During Bush’s tenure, veterans benefits have been cut as well as programs for mental health. Yet Bush has the gaul to say “support our troops.”

He is the first president to cut taxes during a war and when asked why civilian Americans shouldn’t have to sacrifice with their wallets to help “secure” this country, Bush said Americans are sacrificing with their hearts and mourn. Yeah, we’re sure those super wealthy CEO’s who get ridiculous tax breaks mourn troop deaths all the time. Sure.

The lack of common sense, empathy and accountability by this administration is staggering. Once again we say, it’s time for them to go.
