Happy Valentines/Hallmark Day America! If you haven’t made a reservation for you and that special someone, we hope you are prepared to wait 2 hours for a seat at Macaroni Grill. Even if you think you’re getting there early, your not, unless you arrive at 4pm.

But it is a wonderful day to celebrate and cherish the person that you love. Granted, there are 365 days in the year to do this, but this is the day to best express your love. So says the companies that have created this day to make you feel obliged to do something extraordinary. And for many of you, you better!

For weeks we have been bombarded with advertisements for diamonds and roses and anything a lady most desires. What about men though? Where are the commercials for power tools and subscriptions to ESPN The Magazine?

Why are women so entranced with shiny objects? Perhaps it is because a diamond is “forever” and thus sparkles for all eternity. For this, it is the epitome of the expression of love. Never mind the fact that Kobe Bryant bought his wife a $3 million dollar diamond ring to say I’m sorry after he had an extramarital affair. At least it’s all good now. The ladies love the shining gems as much as men love a dramatic 2 minute drill in football.

So guys, hope you have that diamond pendant ready to express your everlasting love. Even if that diamond came from an African laborer, making 30 cents a day to pan for the gem that means forever, or until your relationship comes to a dysfunctional end, whichever comes first.
