Yesterday, Robert Mueller, director of the FBI testified before the House Judiciary Committee and made sworn statements that contradicted those of Alberto Gonzales.

Mueller testified that the late night trip to former attorney general John Ashcroft’s sick bed by slime ball Gonzales and former chief of staff Andrew Card did in fact have to do with the NSA’s wiretapping program. And there was in fact internal disagreements over whether the wiretapping program that was expiring should continue.

Gonzales had previously testified that the late night visit to Ashcroft was not about the wiretapping program and there were no internal disagreements.

Today the White House used their magical spin to not only defend Alberto Gonzales (again!) but also to accuse Senate Democrats of being in the wrong! Tony Snow said Alberto could not be so candid because otherwise it would “compromise American security.” He then bashed Democrats for asking Gonzalez questions that could give the attorney general a hard time answering.

And all of this has nothing to do with the fact that Alberto perjured himself in speaking about the firings of federal prosecutors. It certainly didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the lying man in charge of the law was lying again.

It’s frustrating to see this administration tear at the soul of integrity and continually get away with it. They have not only told Congress but also the Constitution to fuck off. God forbid we have “checks and balances” in our government. Remember how we started learning about that in like the 5th grade? Clearly it is important.
