As a resident of Florida I sometimes like to write about the weirdness and criminals that add a little something extra to “the sunshine state.” Of the many criminals that flee various other states to take residence here, none are more notorious than “The Juice” OJ Simpson.

This month’s theme day here in the Travel & Culture Channel is “rants” and it got me thinking back to the old “Dennis Miller Live” shows on HBO. In my opinion one of the most underrated shows of all time because Miller’s combined political/social humor, wit, innapropriateness and obscurity was simply unmatched, yet when the show ended I could not find any seasons on DVD. That was the old Dennis Miller however; Dennis Miller 2.0 is still funny but nothing like he was on that show. These are the Aussie guys responsible for crashing ‘The Decider’s’ hotel in Sydney last week for the APEC conference. This is hilarious stuff with them doing random “security checks” on people. They even fool one real security guard by saying that he was outranked and that what was going on was classified at his level.
For some reason Youtube has removed the Crasher’s motorcade breach of security near Bush’s hotel ($160 million Australian was spent on security, equivalent to $120 million US dollars). But the clip can be seen at this link on Australia’s ABC TV. Highly recommended viewing! The …read more

The Portland Trail Blazer’s #1 pick, Greg Oden just had surgery on his knee and will likely miss his entire rookie year. Hmm, maybe ESPN writer Bill Simmons was right when he said they should have taken Texas forward Kevin Durant.
Latino’s are infiltrating this country in more ways than one as Hurricane Humberto hits Texas and moves on to Louisiana where it will seek construction work after destruction work.

It’s not very often I talk about sports on here, but why not? I’d like to issue this weeks “Cheat to Win” award to Bill Belichik and the New England Patriots for videotaping the New York Jets hand signals. As NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ponders on what the punishment will be (it’s thought to be draft picks) I sincerely hope the commish rules with an iron fist here.

Well, its been 6 years since 9/11 and it seems like yesterday that lots of Republicans were constantly reminding us of it. Oh wait, it was just yesterday, and today and every other day.

For the last few months we’ve been hearing about how Fred Thompson has never desired to be President which is why he would make a good president. This got me thinking back to Plato’s “Republic” where he discusses philosopher kings, supposedly the only ones truly fit to rule.
