Rudy Giuliani Brings 9/11 to Florida!

Rudy Giuliani Brings 9/11 to Florida!

While the other republican candidates have been traveling across the US competing to win states, Rudy Giuliani has been camped out in Florida for what seems like forever. Since coming to my home state, Rudy has managed to really get the 9/11 message out. In fact, he’s done such a great job of it; that I now feel like that creepy kid from The Sixth Sense- I see 9/11 everywhere!
Whether I’m in the grocery store, on the road, in bed or playing softball in the park-Rudy has managed to instill a solid 9/11 presence in the Florida air. It’s like I can constantly smell the intermingling aroma of …read more

Presidential Candidates Courting the Fat Vote

As Obese Population Rises, More Candidates Courting The Fat Vote
Here’s a fun video from The Onion. Since politicians and the media are so obsessed with targeting various segments of society-age, ethnicity, promiscuity, etc; The Onion takes a look at a very large segment of our population that the candidates are now going after: the obese vote. Who will garner the most fat votes and what are the candidates doing to capture the hearts and minds of the American obese?

Caucus with the Family

Caucus with the Family

This is a theme post for b5media’s Travel and Culture channel entitled “family.” So I decided to focus on the all important family caucus, which involves telling your family members why they are wrong and why they should vote with you.
In almost all families there is some degree of political difference, some large and some small. When gathering a family caucus it is important to leave out members who have a vastly different political position, chances are you will be left spinning your wheels in mud. It’s best to focus on family members (and friends!) with smaller political differences to yours. A family caucus can …read more

Fred Thompson Drops Out

Fred Thompson Drops Out

Aww Shucks! After making a big splash before he even entered the pool, Fred Thompson was never able to muster the kind of support he hoped. And that was garnering enough of the “aww shucks” vote. We’ve seen a lot of pie charts on TV but I haven’t seen a breakdown of how the ”aww shucks” crowd voted-I suspect Huckabee hurt him most.
Anyways, after a third place finish in South Carolina, a state fill with “aww shucks” voters, Thompson had no where to go and thus had to drop out of the presidential race. Thompson’s folksy explanations of government and what government should do will …read more

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

My posts normally have a comedic spin so I need to keep with the theme here. How do whites in South Carolina celebrate this day? Do they fly the confederate flag at their State Capitol building even higher?
Anyways, in remembrance…

State GDP’s Compared to Other Countries

State GDP’s Compared to Other Countries

Globalization really hits home this time! I thought this map was really interesting; it changes state names to countries with equivalent GDP’s. Damn we’re rich!
If California were its own country it would have the 8th largest GDP in the world-matching that of France. And for many Americans, comparing California and France might be fitting regardless. One very ironic one on here is Texas and Canada. Me thinkest some steers may take issue with this one!
All of them are interesting and funny really; Idaho renamed to Ukraine, etc. Two of the biggest surprises to me are Tennessee compared to Saudi Arabia and Alabama compared to …read more

Nevada Casino Caucuses!

Nevada Casino Caucuses!

If you thought the Iowa caucuses were exciting you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! That’s right, the January 19th Nevada caucuses will include 9 Las Vegas strip casinos!
And hey, it’s Vegas baby, why not? What would Nevada caucuses be without holding some in casinos? It’s nice to be able to place a wager on who will win the Nevada caucus and then have some control over the outcome by loudly and furiously caucusing for your candidate (actually you can’t legally wager on this in Nevada so either see your bookie or place your wager online before caucusing).
The reason for the casino caucuses is to …read more

See Stephen Colbert’s Portrait at Washington’s National Gallery Bathroom

In case you missed last night’s Colbert Report, here is the exciting conclusion of the 3 part series involving Colbert trying to give his self portraits within a self portrait to the walls of history. First Colbert visited the Smithsonian where he viewed historic items such as Abraham Lincoln’s hat, George Washington’s army uniform and Helen Keller’s watch. The last one allowed for a classy joke where Stephen asked, how did Helen Keller tell time? That was awesome, I haven’t heard a Helen Keller joke since high school.
Ultimately the Smithsonian did not accept Stephen Colbert’s self portrait; deflated and in …read more

George Bush Does the Middle East

George Bush Does the Middle East

‘The Decider’ has had a fun filled week prancing around Israel, Palestine, Kuwait, the UAE and Saudi Arabia as he continues to preach peace through nightmarish terror.
To his credit, he has put a peace agreement on the table for Israel and Palestine. In fact, it’s so visionary and unique that it happens to be the same one Israel has offered the Palestinians. The deal involves no return to pre-1967 borders, no return for Palestinian refugees and no return of all East Jerusalem. Awesome! Palestinians were so against that deal before but they are sure to accept it now that Bush has repeated it.
Bush brokered a $20 billion arms deal with …read more
