Photo Flashback: Ronald Reagan and Strom Thurmond
Last night the republicans debated at the Ronald Reagan Library, holy grounds for the GOP. Ronald Reagan’s name was mentioned a lot, perhaps 20 times by Mitt Romney. In fact, when each candidate was asked whether Ronald Reagan would endorse them, Mitt Romney confidently said “absolutely.” This despite the fact that just about every key player in the GOP has endorsed John McCain.
McCain came across with very little energy though and acted as if he had already locked up the nomination. In the beginning I was thinking jesus, somebody hand that guy a Red Bull! He also seemed to have a big problem with looking at the other candidates when they spoke, and often times when he did look at them; he seemed to smirk them off like they were crazies who had no clue.
Anyways, it’s funny how highly the GOP regards Ronald Reagan as “the true conservative.” Reagan was actually a registered democrat for years, he didn’t officially switch to being a republican until 1962. So I guess people can change their minds on issues, even the great Ronald Reagan.

It’s funny how the Republicans are reaching into the past for a shining example. They obviously don’t have anything positive to say about the current President.
Yeah, Mitt Romney was running the Ronald Reagan speak on a loop for a bit.
Bush so rarely gets mentioned, sometimes they give him some cred for keeping us safe for 7 years, gotta throw him a bone every now and again
Funny stuff. I always thought Reagan was good…for the 80s! Funny shit!
Good to see you on here John! Thanks for the compliment…What do you think the odds are of Bush telling Israel to “Tear this Wall Down?”
