Castro Steps Down-Looks to Keep Adidas Endorsement

Fidel CastroWell, he was supposed to have taken a dirt nap back in the summer of 2006. Many Cuban Americans rejoiced and politicians began speculating on Cuba’s future. Thing was, he never did kick the bucket but he also hasn’t made a public appearance since then.

So now that Fidel Castro has officially stepped down, many people are reserving celebration this time. After all, he’s just been chillin’ the past couple years anyways. What I wonder here is whether Adidas will keep him as a sponsor. I mean, it’s not like he’s the leader of Cuba anymore-he’s simply morphed into an irrelevant old guy.

There was a time where we frequently saw Castro leading in his patented military uniform. These days though, he usually appears looking like a tired old gym teacher who may have just crapped himself. It’s probably a good time for him to move on to the private sector, there’s just not a whole lot of money in that communist thing. Besides, he’s getting old and he needs to think about what he will pass on to his brother Raul. Oh wait, never mind.
