Guest Post on Sirened?

Guest Post on Sirened?

Some of my regular readers know this, others don’t. My wife and I are in the midst of relocating from sunny flat Florida to gloomy flat Amsterdam. The date we fly off to our new home is March 1st and it’s been much anticipated since we’ve known about this for a few months.
Obviously things are getting hectic with the overseas move, we are doing all sorts of things with our stuff but we’re not taking most of it. We just organized our apartment in Amsterdam and should be good to move in on March 2nd when we arrive. However, being …read more

Castro Steps Down-Looks to Keep Adidas Endorsement

Castro Steps Down-Looks to Keep Adidas Endorsement

Well, he was supposed to have taken a dirt nap back in the summer of 2006. Many Cuban Americans rejoiced and politicians began speculating on Cuba’s future. Thing was, he never did kick the bucket but he also hasn’t made a public appearance since then.
So now that Fidel Castro has officially stepped down, many people are reserving celebration this time. After all, he’s just been chillin’ the past couple years anyways. What I wonder here is whether Adidas will keep him as a sponsor. I mean, it’s not like he’s the leader of Cuba anymore-he’s simply morphed into an irrelevant …read more

Hillary Clinton’s Wisconsin Attack Ad On Obama

Hillary Clinton’s Wisconsin Attack Ad On Obama

Ok, so this isn’t a nasty attack ad here. Hillary just wants more debates with Obama and Obama won’t agree to a Wisconsin debate. It’s an interesting issue here, Obama argues that since he doesn’t have the Clinton brand name he needs more time on the campaign trail.
Hillary wants to debate Obama every week until the Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4th but Obama has only agreed to 1 debate. It will be interesting to see if this is a strategy that pays off for Obama or one that comes back to bite him.
They are both wisely …read more

Daily Show/Colbert Report Writers Return!

Daily Show/Colbert Report Writers Return!

The writers strike is finally over! After watching over a month of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report episodes without writers, yesterday they finally came back! I have to hand to them, they did a great job without their full time writers, but something was definitely missing. As funny as Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are, it’s tough doing fresh comedy 4 nights a week without writers.
And hell, people like Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien had been doing 1 hour shows 5 nights a week without their full time writers. It’s been interesting but 5 weeks of …read more

Where Not to Go on Valentines Day?…Chain Restaraunts!

Where Not to Go on Valentines Day?…Chain Restaraunts!

Valentines Day is almost here and if you haven’t already made a reservation for the busiest eating day out then your options are already drastically limited. If that’s the case, thank goodness for mediocre chain restaurants where you need no reservation for Valentines day! May I recommend Macaroni Grill…
But seriously, can I suggest not going to a chain restaurant? If you don’t have a reservation or know of a nice place that actually won’t be packed (I don’t) then grab some candles and a cookbook. And perhaps some wine or a bottle of tequila, whatever pleases your lady and increases …read more

What’s That Thorn in John McCain’s Ass?

What’s That Thorn in John McCain’s Ass?

After John McCain won the big ones on Super Tuesday, his walnut cheeks expanded and he declared himself the front runner for the republican nomination. And with a delegate lead of more than 400 it was rightly justified. Two days later Mitt Romney and his 287 delegates laid down their arms and Mike Huckabee was expected to follow suit. Not so much.
Despite McCain’s republican friends urging the Huck to withdraw he has not. Huckabee has vowed to continue on his rainbow voyage to the emerald forest of republican nominees. After all, as Huckabee said about his college days “I didn’t …read more

Most Unhealthy Food in America: Outback “Aussie” Fries

Most Unhealthy Food in America: Outback “Aussie” Fries

What is the most unhealthy food in America? According to Men’s Health the award goes to the Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries with Ranch Dressing. This delicious mess of fried crap medley has 2,900 calories and 182 grams of fat. Yum!! Funny thing is, these fries are less Australian than a Wal-Mart boomerang that was made in China.
Like just about everything on Outback’s menu, this is not what Australians eat. Trust me, I’ve lived there and my wife is Australian. When I took her to Outback to eat she was baffled by menu items such as The Bloomin’ Onion. “They just make …read more

An American in Vietnam

An American in Vietnam

I just wanted to let you guys know about a guest post I wrote on the website Let’s Visit Asia. About 3 years ago my wife and I spent 12 days traveling around Vietnam. As an American, it was a unique experience to check out the country where we fought our last major war before Iraq. I won’t get into it too much as you can check out the post on Ruth Schaffer’s site. And if you’re thinking about a trip to Asia, check out her site for some great travel tips for around the continent.

The Daily Show- Mitt Romney

The Daily Show- Mitt Romney

Yesterday Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for president due to his realization that he had zero chance to be president. In the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of Mitt Romney, but after I watched him more his arrogant dickishness really grew on me. Unlike the other candidates, when asked whether Ronald Reagan would endorse him, Romney did not hesitate for a moment before saying “absolutely.” Unfortunately, despite Rush Limbaugh’s endorsement, Romney was simply unable to capture enough delegates to continue.
Yesterday, Romney gave a stirring concession speech where he threw around loads of his ‘wisdom’ on various topics. Here’s a …read more
