Ralph Nader 08′

Woohoo! Yesterday, after months of speculation Ralph Nader officially announced he will be running for president of 3rd place in the 2008 presidential election. Nader, who in 2000 botched Al Gore’s bid to be president, was not deterred from running again in 2004 and taking many John Kerry votes in the critical state of Ohio.

Barack Obama commented yesterday saying that in 2000 Ralph Nader said there was no difference between George Bush and Al Gore and because of that he clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

I’ll interject an embarrassing personal truth here that I’ll probably take some heat for. As a resident of Florida, I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000. The reason? I was young and didn’t particularly care for Al Gore (obviously detested George Bush) and I was opposed to the dominant 2 party system in this country. I also had absolutely no clue how much my vote would count in a nation of 300 million people.

And now Ralph “unsafe at any speed” Nader is running for the 3rd straight time, and to that I say fuck you Ralph. There’s an old saying in Texas and it goes something like this: fool me once, shame on me? Fool me twice, shame on….umm, shame on…well the point is you can’t fool me twice!

Ralph Nader responds with “pull my finger.”
