Obama, Clinton, Edwards All Do Colbert
Stephen Colbert didn’t have to do a whole lot of work on last night’s show as he had politicians doing most of the talking for him. A day after Clinton and Obama debated in Pennsylvania, they both appeared on The Colbert Report. It was known all week that Senator Clinton would appear on the show in some form, but Obama appearing via satellite was a surprise. And the fact that Obama appeared at the end of show kinda trumped Hillary’s in person appearance and probably took away whatever she was trying to gain from her visit.
Colbert was not given a chance to make either presidential candidate look foolish (they pretty much just did that on their own-especially Hillary). Their appearances were totally scripted to have them in control of the dialog, Stephen was the one playing along which is totally uncharacteristic to what he normally does. It was definitely a little disappointing but interesting to see them both on the show.
Even John Edwards swung by to pretend that he is still relevant, despite being out of the race for 3 months and still not having made an endorsement. John does “Ed’s Word” and once again pushes his poverty agenda to both Clinton and Obama, leaving a window open that he may still endorse one of them. Anyways, nice to see that Stephen got a night off last night!
