Best of May!

Best of May!

It’s been an exciting month here on Sirened and here’s a wrap on some of the highlights:
I fully immersed myself in my Jackass Amsterdam Pictures of the Week segment by partaking in The Netherlands biggest holiday and dressing up like well…a jackass.
Gary Kasparov and the Flying Penis Helicopter inspired me to create a new ‘LOL’ category.
In Obama Leads Panamanian Candidate John McCain in National Polls, I look into the reason why John McCain is struggling with his base: their racism towards Latins.
When people complain about high oil prices, they often forget about the oil companies, who are massively affected because …read more

Hilarious Missouri Congressional Race

Hilarious Missouri Congressional Race

There is a hysterical congressional race heating up between Missouri republican incumbent Sam Graves and his democratic opponent Kay Barnes. Graves has decided to go with page 1 of his 1 page play book- the 1980’s gay disco attack method. It’s a trick play along the lines of the “statue of liberty” play in football, as would be called if Larry Craig was head coach.
What’s almost just as funny (but not quite) is Kay Barnes TV ad in response (below) showing these very same 1980’s gay disco dancing people! By golly Sam Graves is right about her! Remember to …read more

Michael Pfleger Does Standup At Obama’s Church

Michael Pfleger Does Standup At Obama’s Church

Wow! I had no idea that Barack Obama’s church was SO funny. I don’t go to church and I don’t live in Chicago, but next time I’m in town I’ll be sure to catch a show!

John McCain’s Flip Flopping Incompetent Express

John McCain’s Flip Flopping Incompetent Express

John McCain is having big problems with the YouTubes, partly because he is ancient and mostly because he is full of crap. This latest compilation of John McCain flip flopping and generally having no clue what he is talking about has been viewed by over 1.5 million YouTubers over the past 12 days.
John McCain once said that he was weak on the economy but strong on military and foreign policy issues. But just this week, even Israeli Senator Joe Lieberman had to openly correct John McCain for a gaffe on Iranian extremists. Seriously man, if you want to be President …read more

Some Media Fessing Up to Screwing Up on Iraq

Some Media Fessing Up to Screwing Up on Iraq

Finally! Backstabbing Scott McClellan’s new book What Happened has the media looking into their own muck ups prior to the invasion of Iraq. As many remember, the media’s coverage was basically a flag waving parade as they helped enable the Bush administration to spew their propaganda without serious question.
From a business perspective, it made total sense for the media to do what they did. After President Bush put weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein in the same sentence, some 80% of Americans supported a toppling of the regime. So the media was simply reporting on what the general public …read more

MSNBC’s Veepstakes Tournament

MSNBC’s Veepstakes Tournament

Are you a fan of NCAA college basketball bracketology? I know I am. There’s little hands on (without actually playing) stuff in sports that is more fun than filling in your March Madness bracket every year. All kinds of strategies are involved, like which #11 seed will upset a #6 seed, which #12 will upset a #5 (and you can always count on this stuff happening).
In the spirit of bracketology, MSNBC has put together a republican vice-presidential bracket for you to fill out. Instead of 64 teams, there are 32 men and women listed; names that have been flung around …read more

“T” is for Talking Political Heads

“T” is for Talking Political Heads

It’s another theme day here at b5media’s Travel & Culture channel and with the theme being the letter “T” I decided to go with the talking political heads. With the presidential campaigns taking center stage of news coverage for far too long, there’s perhaps no better time to be a famous, semi-famous or not so famous talking political head. Why? Because the networks need lots of talking heads. The more crap that gets thrown around, the better the coverage!
This is particularly the case with CNN, who’s army of talking political heads is anchored by Wolf ‘The Beard’ Blitzer. Each night …read more

Blockbuster Video Museum

Blockbuster Video Museum

Historic Blockbuster Store Offers Glimpse Of How Movies Were Rented In The Past
Remember back in the day when you used to have to go to Blockbuster or your local porn in the back/regular video store up front place to rent movies? It was a real drag because it meant actual physical exertion-walking to your car, driving the car, walking from the car to the store and walking around the store in your movie search. And you had to actually exchange words with the stoned kid working there. All that hassle, when all the while you just wanted to sit on …read more

Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Hope you’ve had a great Memorial Day weekend and managed not to feel the pinch at the pump too much.
Ironically, my memory of Memorial Day actually failed me today because I live in Amsterdam now. I remembered Friday but then forget, until I came on the internet today. Since it’s not a holiday here it just slipped me.
The holiday equivalent of Memorial Day in The Netherlands is Remembrance day, which occurs on May 4th each year. Remembrance Day honors Dutch civilian and military personnel who have died since the beginning of World War II. On May 5th, the Dutch …read more
