McClellan’s book “What Happened” is a wonderful tale about what happened, without really telling what happened. Despite the fact that McClellan left his Press Secretary duties some two years ago, the man literally lives and breathes the spin.

McClellan has no clue whether any additional White House officials broke the law in the leaking of CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity. He does know that the Bush administration could have been more honest about things, but they didn’t necessarily lie and he himself, of course, did not lie.

This did not stop Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Michigan) from boldly stating “It seems clear that Mr. Libby, Mr. Card, the president and the vice president were all involved in directing Mr. McClellan to falsely vouch for Mr. Libby, despite Mr. McClellan’s earlier reservations.”

Last night was the final White House Correspondents’ Dinner for George W. Bush and it sure is nice that lots of “final” things keep occurring for him as president. It’s still a ways until the best final thing, his final day as president, but for the moment I’ll take this one.

President Bush was in fine form last night, poking fun at Dick Cheney and himself for fucking up the world. Being the last correspondents’ dinner, this was a reflective one, highlighting previous dinners dating back to 2001 and reminding us what a long ass time he’s been in power.

But his speech was funny and he does a good enough job at delivering what the speech writing people’s wrote for him. He talks about how diverse the crowd is, with people from Mitt Romney to Pamela Anderson, saying that isn’t those two in the same room a sign of the apocalypse? And with the word apocalypse, there was no better person to transition to than Darth Cheney. He’s the real evil mastermind! Haha!

Ah, it’s so funny, too bad we have to go back to reality now and deal with a war in Iraq, fuel crisis, food crisis, health crisis, environmental crisis, recession, massive budget deficit, (some crisis that slips me) and the next president having to somehow clean up this mess with the help of a Pinocchio Congress that’s run by lobbyists.

Yesterday, US intelligence reports were released saying that Iran had a nuclear weapons program, but halted it in 2003. Damn, that was close! It was only a couple weeks ago that Bush used Iran and World War III in the same sentence. And if Tom Tancredo were president, he may have already begun pre-emptive strikes on Mecca.

The intelligence reports estimate that even if Iran re-started its nuclear weapons program, that it wouldn’t be until at least 2010 that they could develop a bomb. So we still have a few years to not talk to people and make demands for them to stop doing things they’ve already stopped doing until as John McCain said, we “bomb, bomb bomb Iran.”

Long shot elfish presidential candidate Dennis Kusinich has been a staunch advocate against the Iraq war and Bush/Cheney/Darth Vader Sith Lord policies. On Tuesday, little Dennis got to speak on the House floor and rambled about how Cheney lied to us (about things other than oval office hummers) and for that he believes Cheney deserves to be impeached. Kusinich really rambles here with a laundry list of Darth Cheney’s secret under dwelling plans to mislead America into war. Ok sure, but is he really planning on building that Death Star? Seems awfully ambitious for someone that just likes to shoot quail and old men in the face.

Yesterday, Condi “needs good dickin” Rice and company laid more ground work for a potential WWIII with harsh sanctions against Iran. The sanctions which are aimed at crippling Iran’s economy into giving up their nuclear enrichment program will definitely do more harm than good in regards to Iraq and perhaps beyond.

One of the root causes of terrorism is poverty as many suicide bombers families are paid large sums of money when the father or mother decides to detonate themselves in a public place. This is something that goes beyond religion and certainly beyond “people who don’t like freedom.” So if business in Iran takes a hit, the trickle down effect will create nothing but more impoverished and bitter people, thereby spawning more hatred towards Israel and the United States. And make no mistake; the interests of Israel and the USA are far from being perfectly aligned at the moment.

Terrorists are not grown in a bubble and dispersed to distant lands whereby the manufacturing center and supply can be completely destroyed. The problem is much more complex and convoluted than that-and for every “terrorist” we kill, two more are born.

I know the sanctions are meant to pressure Iran into giving up their nuclear program, but seeing as how Iran seems to be gathering more friends, like Russia, (who we have equally ticked off by announcing plans to build a missile defense system in the Czech Republic that is essentially aimed at them) this could backfire on a global scale. And I most certainly believe that this decision takes us another step backwards in Iraq.

This video is remarkable on several levels. Deep down we knew Dick Cheney was no moron, he just acted like one to get us involved in the criminal war that is Iraq.

It’s incredible how spot on 1994 Dick Cheney was on what would happen if the US overthrew Saddam Hussein. The man was a genius! It’s EXACTLY how he said it would be-warring factions, questionable government, quagmire! My God, Dick Cheney is Nostradamus!

Then again, it sure helps to have the power to make the irresponsible decisions necessary to make your future visions come true. So Nostradickus, when will the insurgency really be in its last throws? 2020? That seems about right.

Yesterday, Gonzalez testified before Congress again and apparently they did not appreciate the mockery he made of them, again. Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee led by Patrick Leahy said they would investigate whether the lying man has in fact lied to them under oath. On an interesting side note, Senator Leahy was the man that Dick Cheney told to “go fuck yourself” on the Senate floor a few years ago. Ah, the wonderful world of bipartisan politics.

Congress also announced today that they have issued a subpoena to Karl Rove. It will be very interesting to see how well he dances, if it’s anything like his rapping he’s in big trouble. Maybe Cheney can practice with him by shooting at his feet and screaming “dance boy dance!”

The thing Dick Cheney does best is keep secrets and nothing angers him more than any kind of transparency, even when that in itself is a secret. He has recently come under fire from the National Archives for refusing to give them documents for the simple sake of record keeping. By law, the executive branch is required to give the National Archives classified information, but Cheney has not done so since 2002. The Chicago Tribune initially broke this story and Cheney has since argued that he is not a part of the executive branch since he performs legislative duties. But in 2002 he invoked executive privilege when he refused to name names in secret meetings he held with energy executives. So essentially he has proclaimed himself a fourth branch of government-The Cheney Branch.

Congressman Rahm Emanuel, an Illinois Democrat has suggested that funding for Cheney’s office be cut off until he officially decides which branch of government he is apart of. But apparently the secrecy of his branch is imperative to national security.

This is a great article in the NY Times outlining a great deal of the farce that this is, but the last paragraph is just classic “Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said it was not ‘necessary to go through the law and history’ of the vice president’s role because Bush had already decided that Cheney does not need to provide the records.” That’s awesome! The ‘Decider’ decided and therefore it is law!
