Sirened was only gone for a month, but during that time a ton has happened. Here are my thoughts on what has transpired, in chronological order from super stale to semi fresh.
The John Edwards affair: Didn’t surprise me at all. How can you trust a guy who says fighting poverty has become his life’s mission and then goes out and gets a $400 haircut, then runs an ad that poor people helped fund to discuss “how pretty” he is. Last night Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton appeared together at a fund raiser, not for his campaign though, to re-pay her campaign debts. Obama announced that he had personally written a check for $2,300 in honor of Mrs. Clinton’s unsuccessful do whatever the hell it takes to become the most powerful person on the planet run.
You certainly have to question the motives of a person who finances so much of their own money (20 million) for a run at the presidency (also see Mitt Romney). But you know, if you lose, and you championed your campaign as that of working …read more

Even though Hillary Clinton formally conceded on Saturday and endorsed Barack Obama (and thankfully she finally did something to put her issues, country and party above herself-of course she kinda had to for the future of her political career) the wounds are still far too fresh for many of her supporters. I really can’t blame them for their frustration seeing as how many of them put a lot of hard work and/or had a lot of belief in their candidate. And the race was oh so close and controversial.

Last night John Stewart wrapped up the historic events of Tuesday: Barack Obama becoming the first African-American nominee for president of the United States, Hillary Clinton getting more votes than anyone in history (according to Clintonian math) and John McCain speaking in New Orleans to a small group of hobos.
At least Hillary has made it known that she will officially concede on Friday, psych, Saturday. Yay, the “long baton death march to the White House” will finally be over-for the democrats. Last night was truly a historic night in American history (despite Hillary’s attempts to steal the limelight like a spoiled school child or in this case, a narcissistic and insanely power hungry Clinton monster). Congratulations to Barack Obama on becoming the democratic nominee and the first African-American finalist for president of the United States.

Last night Hillary Clinton scored a big victory in West Virginia, winning the state by a whopping 67%-26% margin. A 41% victory by someone trailing nationally in polls by 4% to basically the presumptive democratic nominee.
Obama currently sits at 1,882 delegates, just 143 delegates short of the 2,025 needed to win. Of course, the Clinton campaign argues that he needs 2,209 delegates to win because of Florida and Michigan.
The Clinton campaign keeps stressing that even though Florida voters knew their votes wouldn’t count, the state democratic party had a record turnout. That’s an incredible overstatement and I haven’t heard …read more

Even though Barack Obama has pretty much sealed the deal, Hillary Clinton continues to motor on in her full speed crash to getting drunk on the White House lawn and being allowed to sleep on the couch. “Just for one night” please, she’ll say. Then at 3am she will go and grab the red phone and drunkenly nuke Iran.
It’s not a bad idea for Hillary to stay in the race because who knows, Barack could get assassinated or something, especially having to campaign in West Virginia and Kentucky, not exactly bastions of any kind of progressive thinking. Besides, those states …read more
