Hope you’ve had a great Memorial Day weekend and managed not to feel the pinch at the pump too much.
Ironically, my memory of Memorial Day actually failed me today because I live in Amsterdam now. I remembered Friday but then forget, until I came on the internet today. Since it’s not a holiday here it just slipped me.

Yesterday was Queen’s Day in the Netherlands and Amsterdam was totally nuts. My wife and I started the day close to our apartment, in an area called Oost Watergraassmeer, just a little south-east of central Amsterdam. What we saw there was a more traditional part of the Queen’s Day festivities-the area became a giant yard sale to go along with a festival type atmosphere with rides for kids and lots of food. I actually enjoyed this part of Queen’s Day more than I thought I would as I’m not normally big on the family friendly stuff.

I just wanted to take this moment to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. May this St. Patty’s bring you the true luck of the Irish-especially on that drive home!
This is a picture of the Chicago River in what I presume is either St. Patrick’s Day or a day in which leprechans turned out in mass to have a giant piss.

Valentines Day is almost here and if you haven’t already made a reservation for the busiest eating day out then your options are already drastically limited. If that’s the case, thank goodness for mediocre chain restaurants where you need no reservation for Valentines day! May I recommend Macaroni Grill…
