Crummy US Dollar Update

Crummy US Dollar Update

Just when you think the US dollar has hit its low it just keeps on dropping like the fall leaves. And the Euro is strengthening like Barry Bonds on bovine steroids. Here are some current currency exhange rates.
1 US dollar=68 freedom hating Euro cents
1 US=93 beaver munching Canadian cents
1 US=1.08 kangaroo Aussie dollars (note the US dollar is actually worth more here but this is extremely bad and to put this in perspective the minimum wage for an adult Aussie is about $14 Aus an hour!)
1 US=47 pasty British cents (a Big Mac value meal will now run you …read more

Condi Rice and Co. Lay Sanctions Hammer on Iran

Condi Rice and Co. Lay Sanctions Hammer on Iran

Yesterday, Condi “needs good dickin” Rice and company laid more ground work for a potential WWIII with harsh sanctions against Iran. The sanctions which are aimed at crippling Iran’s economy into giving up their nuclear enrichment program will definitely do more harm than good in regards to Iraq and perhaps beyond.
One of the root causes of terrorism is poverty as many suicide bombers families are paid large sums of money when the father or mother decides to detonate themselves in a public place. This is something that goes beyond religion and certainly beyond “people who don’t like freedom.” So if …read more

Corporate Gigante Juevos Hits Near High With Taco Bell in Mexico

Corporate Gigante Juevos Hits Near High With Taco Bell in Mexico

“We want to appeal to consumers who haven’t tried Taco Bell, for whom this would be their first experience with Taco Bell.” That was the statement made by Javier Rancano, Taco Bell’s director in Mexico on the opening of a Taco Bell in Mexico City on October 9th. A common comparison to this business decision is that of bringing ice to Eskimos.
One thing different from Taco Bell’s in the US to Taco Bell in Mexico is that french fries are on the menu, this AmeroMexican fusion of shitty cuisine will certainly stand out in Mexico’s capital.
And while this move is an incredibly bold one from …read more

Beaver Currency Passes US Dollar

Beaver Currency Passes US Dollar

Well, it’s official, the Canadian dollar is now worth more than the US dollar. The Canadian dollar had been riding our ass for a bit now but I really didn’t think it would actually pass us! But alas, it sadly has.
I was just in Canada 6 weeks ago and 1 US dollar still got you $1.05 Canadian, those were the good ole’ days! Now 1 US dollar gets you just under 98 Canadian cents. What the hell is going on? Has the price of maple syrup hit record highs? Are we buying up that much BC bud? Is there some …read more

Iraqi’s Learning Democracy, Suing Blackwater

Iraqi’s Learning Democracy, Suing Blackwater

Iraqi’s are a little sick and tired of Blackwater USA ”security forces” killing them and having to answer to the laws of Noplaceland. So apparently someone told them that under their new democracy they can sue people for what they deem inappropriate conduct that harms them in some form.
So some families of dead Iraqi’s have decided to come together and sue Blackwater. The hardest part of this issue is where the case will be tried seeing as how they fall under the jurisdiction of Noplaceland. My belief is that a “fair and balanced” trial could perhaps be held on the set of Fox’s morning …read more

Around the Internets…

Blackwater USA continues to lead the effort to win the hearts and minds of Iraqi’s by killing them. Problem is that many Iraqi’s want them brought to justice, problem with that is that they are governed by the laws of Noplaceland.
TomDispatch discusses the inverse relationship between the amount of ribbons that current American Generals wear with past American generals, as per what they actually accomplished.
People in “democratic” Egypt and other countries where torture runs ramped are starting to video the occurrences with their cell phones for the rest of the world to see. No word yet on whether this is Mitt Romney spank off material.

Banned Book Week-Spotlight on “Catch-22″

Banned Book Week-Spotlight on “Catch-22″

In case you didn’t know, this is banned book week. The point is to address the issue of censorship in books and remind us of an important part of our democracy that we should not take for granted.
My personal favorite, that has been banned in certain places and times is “Catch-22.”  It’s such a great piece of literature and can be applied to just about any war (and most definitely Iraq). It’s also probably the funniest book I’ve ever read as it bitterly slams the farce, bureaucracy and mismanagement of wars.
When I think about Iraq and all the contradictions that this war entails I can just imagine …read more

Around the Internets…

It’s a new month so let’s see what the hell is still the same.
Apparently those Blackwater guys in Iraq who are governed by the state of Noplaceland have been acting pretty reckless for awhile. Let’s “shoot” for victory boys!
Did you know that the Ukraine has a Prime Minister that looks like a Slavic version of Princess Leah? It’s got the guys at Wonkette going gaga.
Some folks think that starving African children need food more than cheap lap tops. Yeah, but how can they purchase delicious Omaha steaks without a computer?
What’s the real reason traditional allies don’t like Americans as much as they used to? …read more

Republicans Give Free Advertising to MoveOn.org

Republicans Give Free Advertising to MoveOn.org

Last week after General Petraeus gave his White House scripted testimony before Congress, many were angered at the same old merry go round rhetoric he brought to the table. This sparked MoveOn.org to take out this full page ad in the NY Times. When I first saw the ad last week I had a few impressions, I did agree with it but thought the language MoveOn.org used was a bit childish. Although it is catchy and attention grabbing and obviously that is the point.
But yesterday what took place on the Senate floor was nothing short of ridiculous with Senate Republicans asking …read more

Now I Don’t Want to Get Off On a Rant Here But…

This month’s theme day here in the Travel & Culture Channel is “rants” and it got me thinking back to the old “Dennis Miller Live” shows on HBO. In my opinion one of the most underrated shows of all time because Miller’s combined political/social humor, wit, innapropriateness and obscurity was simply unmatched, yet when the show ended I could not find any seasons on DVD. That was the old Dennis Miller however; Dennis Miller 2.0 is still funny but nothing like he was on that show. He’s also not the same person as apparently it was 9/11 that changed him into being an …read more
