Just when you think the US dollar has hit its low it just keeps on dropping like the fall leaves. And the Euro is strengthening like Barry Bonds on bovine steroids. Here are some current currency exhange rates.

1 US=93 beaver munching Canadian cents
1 US=1.08 kangaroo Aussie dollars (note the US dollar is actually worth more here but this is extremely bad and to put this in perspective the minimum wage for an adult Aussie is about $14 Aus an hour!)

Yesterday, Condi “needs good dickin” Rice and company laid more ground work for a potential WWIII with harsh sanctions against Iran. The sanctions which are aimed at crippling Iran’s economy into giving up their nuclear enrichment program will definitely do more harm than good in regards to Iraq and perhaps beyond.

“We want to appeal to consumers who haven’t tried Taco Bell, for whom this would be their first experience with Taco Bell.” That was the statement made by Javier Rancano, Taco Bell’s director in Mexico on the opening of a Taco Bell in Mexico City on October 9th. A common comparison to this business decision is that of bringing ice to Eskimos.

Well, it’s official, the Canadian dollar is now worth more than the US dollar. The Canadian dollar had been riding our ass for a bit now but I really didn’t think it would actually pass us! But alas, it sadly has.
I was just in Canada 6 weeks ago and 1 US dollar still got you $1.05 Canadian, those were the good ole’ days! Now 1 US dollar gets you just under 98 Canadian cents. What the hell is going on? Has the price of maple syrup hit record highs? Are we buying up that much BC bud? Is there some …read more

Iraqi’s are a little sick and tired of Blackwater USA ”security forces” killing them and having to answer to the laws of Noplaceland. So apparently someone told them that under their new democracy they can sue people for what they deem inappropriate conduct that harms them in some form.
So some families of dead Iraqi’s have decided to come together and sue Blackwater. The hardest part of this issue is where the case will be tried seeing as how they fall under the jurisdiction of Noplaceland. Blackwater USA continues to lead the effort to win the hearts and minds of Iraqi’s by killing them. Problem is that many Iraqi’s want them brought to justice, problem with that is that they are governed by the laws of Noplaceland.
TomDispatch discusses the inverse relationship between the amount of ribbons that current American Generals wear with past American generals, as per what they actually accomplished.  
People in “democratic” Egypt and other countries where torture runs ramped are starting to video the occurrences with their cell phones for the rest of the world to see. No word yet on whether this is Mitt Romney spank off material.

In case you didn’t know, this is banned book week. The point is to address the issue of censorship in books and remind us of an important part of our democracy that we should not take for granted.
My personal favorite, that has been banned in certain places and times is “Catch-22.”  It’s such a great piece of literature and can be applied to just about any war (and most definitely Iraq). It’s also probably the funniest book I’ve ever read as it bitterly slams the farce, bureaucracy and mismanagement of wars.

Apparently those Blackwater guys in Iraq who are governed by the state of Noplaceland have been acting pretty reckless for awhile. Let’s “shoot” for victory boys!

Last week after General Petraeus gave his White House scripted testimony before Congress, many were angered at the same old merry go round rhetoric he brought to the table. This sparked MoveOn.org to take out this full page ad in the NY Times. When I first saw the ad last week I had a few impressions, I did agree with it but thought the language MoveOn.org used was a bit childish. Although it is catchy and attention grabbing and obviously that is the point.

This month’s theme day here in the Travel & Culture Channel is “rants” and it got me thinking back to the old “Dennis Miller Live” shows on HBO. In my opinion one of the most underrated shows of all time because Miller’s combined political/social humor, wit, innapropriateness and obscurity was simply unmatched, yet when the show ended I could not find any seasons on DVD. That was the old Dennis Miller however; Dennis Miller 2.0 is still funny but nothing like he was on that show.
