Sirened’s Rock Solid Financial Advice- Bookie Mistakes

Sirened’s Rock Solid Financial Advice- Bookie Mistakes

With the stock market plummeting and people’s financial assets taking a bigger hit than John McCain’s reputation, Sirened made a bold financial guarantee last week. I told readers to consider betting your 401k on the San Fransisco 49ers (-4) at home against a terrible Detroit Lions football team. Well, if you took my financial advice, you nearly doubled your depleted fortune!
I said that the 49ers should have been 10 point favorites in that game and were a “lock”, and what happened? They thumped the Lions 31-13. In sports betting (the best financial advice currently out there), it’s important to take …read more

Vegas Still Favors Obama…Barely

At the moment there are all sorts of polls circulating about who will be the next ‘Decider’ of the United States of Bankruptcy America. Polls are coming out daily and after months of an Obama edge, we’ve now seen the momentum shift to the side of John “Big Tuna” McCain, who thinks that if he’s going to cook the food then he should be able to buy the groceries, or something.
Anyways, in uncertain times like these I look to the rock of financial stability, the bookies. While McCain might have a slight edge in the polls, he still does not …read more

Euro Cup: Netherlands Disappointing 3-1 Loss to Russia

Euro Cup: Netherlands Disappointing 3-1 Loss to Russia

This was the scene at an Amsterdam bar last night when the Netherlands scored in the waning minutes of regulation to force extra time with Russia. The packed bar erupted in cheer and everyone hugged one another in celebratory relief.
The celebration was not to last though, as in the second half of extra time Russia scored 2 goals to put the nail in The Netherlands Euro Cup coffin. Nederlands, who were the best team in group play, outscoring their opponents 9-1, seemed to struggle a bit in the role of favorite. And Russia, as the underdog playing with less pressure, …read more

Germany 3, Portugal 2: Dutch Say Bring on the Germans!

Germany 3, Portugal 2: Dutch Say Bring on the Germans!

The first quarterfinal match of Euro Cup 2008 is complete and all is well in land of schnitzels, brats and very large beers. The Germans shockingly jumped up 2-0 in only the 26th minute and despite a solid Portugal effort to come back, it was to no avail.
Portugal was able to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 42nd minute, but Germany extended the lead to 3-1 in the 62nd minute. Portugal scored a dramatic goal in the 87th minute to make the ending a nail biter, but the Germans held on.
The nice thing about Portugal’s exit from the …read more

Tim Russert: Great Journalist, Great Representative of Buffalo

Tim Russert: Great Journalist, Great Representative of Buffalo

The word of Tim Russert’s surprising death on Friday was very sad news. Many news anchors who worked with Tim fought back tears as they reported his sudden death.
Tim Russert was not only great at his job, but he absolutely loved it and it was clearly evident. When something was interesting to Tim-and in his business it was frequent, his eyes would widen and his face would light up. This is certainly part of the reason Tim worked so hard and was so good at what he did.
Tim Russert was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and he never kept …read more

10 Things That Annoy Me About Soccer…

10 Things That Annoy Me About Soccer…

To start off, my beef does not include hot Swedish women or attractive women from wherever the hell this other girl is from. But seeing as how I’m a big sports buff living in Europe and Euro Cup is currently heating up, here is another post on soccer, my in-depth analysis on why it bugs me. This list includes my major annoyances, but my grievances are not limited solely to this list and are in no particular order.
1)The clock never stops and thus there is no accurate time. Ok, so many foreigners argue that Americans go too far with the …read more

Euro Cup 2008: Netherlands 3-0 Over Italy!

Euro Cup 2008: Netherlands 3-0 Over Italy!

Woohoo! The Netherlands just won a big match, so in European soccer tradition, it’s time to burn something!
Ok, so this was just the first match of Euro Cup 2008 for the Netherlands, but seeing as how they managed an upset victory over defending World Cup champions Italy, this is a huge deal. And 3-0!?! Jesus, 3 goals in soccer is like scoring 42 points in an NFL game!
As I’m writing this there are people yelling out their windows in my apartment building and honestly, why the hell not? The Netherlands hasn’t exactly enjoyed a great deal of international success in …read more

Roger Clemens Juiced!!-George Mitchell Report Unleashed

Really? Wow, and we just thought that it was an amazing accomplishment for a 44 year old man to naturally blow away big league batters with his monster fastball. Yup, just like we thought it was natural for Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds to all crush Roger Maris’ home run record. The ball is juiced everyone said! Nope, not the ball, it was the dudes.
So now that Senator George Mitchell has given his report on steroid use in baseball, is it any surprise that Roger Clemens name was mentioned? We live in a day and age where if some athletic feet …read more

Michael Vick Sentenced 23 Months-Where My Dogs At?

Saying Michael Vick blew it is certainly an understatement. Dude should be playing Monday night football tonight against the Saints and instead is in prison and has just been sentenced for nearly 2 years. Really, he should have gotten some extra prison time just for being fucking stupid.
Anyways, if you hate Michael Vick but have a sadistic sense of humor, or love him (and if you’re a fan of pit bull fighting why wouldn’t you?) pick up this t-shirt from A Drunk Buffalo T-Shirt Company. It really is damn wrong but I think it’s hilarious-yeah I’m an asshole. But if you purchase one of these t-shirts $1 …read more
