Their appearances were totally scripted to have them in control of the dialog, Stephen was the one playing along which is totally uncharacteristic to what he normally does. It was definitely a little disappointing but interesting to see them both on the show.

Even John Edwards swung by to pretend that he is still relevant, despite being out of the race for 3 months and still not having made an endorsement. John does “Ed’s Word” and once again pushes his poverty agenda to both Clinton and Obama, leaving a window open that he may still endorse one of them. Anyways, nice to see that Stephen got a night off last night!

Post from: Sirened

Daily Show/Colbert Report Writers Return!

John Stewart

Stephen Colbert

The Colbert Report

The Daily Show

The writers strike is finally over! That was awesome, I haven’t heard a Helen Keller joke since high school.
Ultimately the Smithsonian did not accept Stephen Colbert’s self portrait; deflated and in despair he then went two blocks down to the National Gallery. There he viewed portraits of American icons such as Jack Kerouac, Upton Sinclair and Andy Warhol. In the end Stephen visited the Hall of Presidents and to his delight his portrait was accepted to be displayed just one room away from George Washington’s portrait, in front of the bathrooms! That’s right, Washington’s National Gallery has agreed to allow Colbert’s self portraits within a self portrait to be their bathroom decoration for 6 weeks. So like Stephen said, it’s never been a better time to take a whiz in Washington!

Post from: Sirened

Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert Return!

John Stewart

Stephen Colbert

The Colbert Report

The Daily Show

Last night The Daily Show and The Colbert Report returned to the airwaves for the first time since November 1st, shortly before the writer’s strike began. He was then told it was because of the writers strike. Colbert acted surprised and said “my understanding is that this little magic box, it reads my thoughts and it lays them on the screen right there.”

Being that it was their first show back, they both used the writers strike as a source of material. And with so much time off, I suspect they have lots of ideas to carry them through several shows. But the longer this drags out, the harder this will be for them, especially since many actors and politicians will not cross picket lines to appear on their shows.

Anyways, welcome back guys! I’ve missed ya!

Daily Show image from MSNBC.

Post from: Sirened

Colbert Discusses Ballot Dissing With “Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy”

2008 Elections

Politics

Stephen Colbert

The Colbert Report

Voting

YouTube

Yesterday morning, Stephen Colbert called in to some radio show to discuss his not being allowed on the South Carolina democratic ballot with “Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy” and who I am coining “Radio Guy That’s Not Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy.” Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy told Colbert that maybe next time he should take his candidacy more seriously in which Stephen replied “Listen here Brown Haired Guy That’s not Steve Doocy…!” Post from: Sirened
Post from: Sirened

Yesterday morning, Stephen Colbert called in to some radio show to discuss his not being allowed on the South Carolina democratic ballot with “Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy” and who I am coining “Radio Guy That’s Not Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy.” Brown Haired Guy That’s Not Steve Doocy told Colbert that maybe next time he should take his candidacy more seriously in which Stephen replied “Listen here Brown Haired Guy That’s not Steve Doocy…!”

Post from: Sirened

Vote Colbert/Doritos in 2008!

2008 Elections

Presidential Race

Stephen Colbert

The Colbert Report

South Carolina democrats just announced that they will not allow Stephen Colbert to be on their presidential primary ballot. Last night, Tim Russert, along with NBC nightly news anchor Brian Williams moderated a democratic debate at Drexel University on MSNBC. Problem was, Stephen Colbert was the only candidate that did not attend, along with Mike Gravel, but he does not count since he is polling much further down than zesty nacho cheese Doritos themselves.

One can only assume that Stephen Colbert is using the “Fred Thompson Model” of presidential candidacy, one in which you do not show up for debates and do as little as possible in your bid to be president. It’s working pretty well for Thompson, often saying as few substantial things as possible is the best way to get elected president-see George Bush. I mean seriously, if you say lots of substantial stuff you are bound to piss people off and thus they will not vote for you. So it’s either better to not say substantial things or not be a substantial person.

Anyways, Stephen Colbert is polling in a statistical dead heat with Joe Biden for 4th place, only behind Hillary, Obama and Edwards. An Edwards spokesperson recently called out Stephen Colbert in South Carolina for taking money from the delicious makers of zesty nacho cheese Doritos. In reality, I believe John Edwards is just jealous that he does not have a zesty mouth watering explosion of flavor sponsor like Stephen Colbert has with zesty nacho cheese Doritos.

Post from: Sirened

George Carlin Chats With Keith Olbermann on Countdown

2008 Elections

Celebrities

Politics

Presidential Race

Stephen Colbert

YouTube

George Carlin is the undisputed king of social and political comedy and has influenced the likes of John Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and Dennis Miller. This is his appearance on Countdown just 2 days ago in which he addressed a variety of pressing issues with typical Carlin wit and humor. One lighter issue discussed is Stephen Colbert’s run for president. One poll actually has Colbert polling 5th among democrats! And he’s only just behind Joe Biden for 4th place. Colbert hasn’t announced a running mate just yet. Perhaps a Colbert/Carlin ticket?
