Well, this is really only fitting I suppose. Especially when the President of the United States seems to care more about Israel and its interests than that of his own country. It’s hard to explain why else he would take a cheap (and bullshit) shot at an American politician in front of the Israeli parliament.

Even though I’m ahead (6 hours from Eastern Standard Time) I’m still behind here in the Netherlands-with regards to American political goings on.

So Huckabee is finally out now? What about all that talk about taking it to the convention?? Oh, John McCain officially became the nominee, that’s right. And what about all that Obamamentum? That has to be all the rage across the United States after Tuesday!! Oh, he lost Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and perhaps a colony. Did any colonies vote this time (not counting Rhode Island)?

So Hillary has the momentum now and is all the rage with the young kids? Oh, not quite. So Obama must have given a really inspirational speech after Tuesday’s losses? Oh, he cited math before the contests even began. Anyways, here is Jon Stewart with a fun recap of Something Tuesday

The writers strike is finally over! After watching over a month of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report episodes without writers, yesterday they finally came back! I have to hand to them, they did a great job without their full time writers, but something was definitely missing. As funny as Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are, it’s tough doing fresh comedy 4 nights a week without writers.

And hell, people like Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien had been doing 1 hour shows 5 nights a week without their full time writers. It’s been interesting but 5 weeks of this was enough. Welcome back to all the writers, nice to see you again!

Yesterday Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for president due to his realization that he had zero chance to be president. In the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of Mitt Romney, but after I watched him more his arrogant dickishness really grew on me. Unlike the other candidates, when asked whether Ronald Reagan would endorse him, Romney did not hesitate for a moment before saying “absolutely.” Unfortunately, despite Rush Limbaugh’s endorsement, Romney was simply unable to capture enough delegates to continue.

Yesterday, Romney gave a stirring concession speech where he threw around loads of his ‘wisdom’ on various topics. Here’s a clip of last night’s The Daily Show where Jon Stewart shows some highlights of Romney’s white flag speech. One of my favorites is Romney saying that if we’re not careful, the United States will become the “France of the 21st century.” Jon Stewart had to dig deep to come up with a retort for that one saying “Isn’t France the France of the 21st century?”

Anyways, I am honestly going to miss Mitt Romney on the campaign trail. John McCain has this all but locked up and frankly, he’s rather boring. Mike Huckabee is entertaining when he’s trying to be but that doesn’t count. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama? Yeah, there’s good material there but it’s just not solid Mitt Romney stuff. Romney was funny just for being himself, which is a total dick.

The shows were definitely different without the writers, but being they were the first in months, they weren’t necessarily less entertaining, particularly The Colbert Report which relies heavily on Stephen Colbert staying in character.

Colbert was bewildered as to why there weren’t any words on his teleprompter. He was then told it was because of the writers strike. Colbert acted surprised and said “my understanding is that this little magic box, it reads my thoughts and it lays them on the screen right there.”

Being that it was their first show back, they both used the writers strike as a source of material. And with so much time off, I suspect they have lots of ideas to carry them through several shows. But the longer this drags out, the harder this will be for them, especially since many actors and politicians will not cross picket lines to appear on their shows.

Anyways, welcome back guys! I’ve missed ya!

Since they’ve been off so long they’ve missed out on making fun of so many different things. There’s been men coming forward saying they’ve had sex with ‘anti-gay’ senator Larry Craig, President Num Nuts doing his job (nuff’ said there), the idiocy of the run-up to the Iowa caucuses and so much more. It’s great that they’ll be back in just a few weeks to bring the insanity back to normal.

The writers strike is still going on so tentatively they will be coming back without their writers, although they are hoping that a deal gets worked out with the Writer’s Guild of America. If a deal doesn’t get done they will mostly be winging their shows by having extra guests and interviews.

Personally, I think it will be interesting to see their shows without their writers. They themselves are members of the writer’s guild but it will be difficult to do 4 shows a week with little internal help. They’ll have to rely on having great guests and using their own smarts and sharp wit to put on great shows. I’m looking forward to seeing this!

It’s unfortunate that the Dems have put the hammer down on Colbert’s “Better Know a District” segment. Come on guys, give him some material here!

Shockingly, Pakistani presidents’ book tours in the US don’t go over too well with radical Muslim factions. But to Pervez’s credit he knew there was little choice but to broker a “deal” between the US, the government of Pakistan and Al Qaeda in Pakistan: It’s called the “Leave Us the Fuck Alone” policy.

Surprisingly, the biggest winner of this policy has been Al Qaeda in Pakistan who has managed some much needed R&R for jihad against all infidels (especially those who love freedom).

And Bush’s strategy of fighting them over there so we don’t fight them here has worked to a degree. We are fighting lots of people “over there” and some are even members of Al Qaeda. Of course, for every member of Al Qaeda we kill, 2 more are born. This has all been a very intriguing piece of foreign policy.

Here is the video of the Mooninite billboards that were placed around Boston that resulted in much of the city’s shutdown Wednesday. Apparently, the tiny billboards had been around for about a month but while lit up did not look like bombs. Then the batteries went out and were not replaced, leaving a circuit board looking contraption with wires hanging out of it. A Harvard scholar found one under a bridge and well, the rest is just embarrassing.

The person seen placing the Mooninite billboards around Boston was arrested for his role in leaving objects for their batteries to expire and allow a major US city to go into chaos involving hundreds of police, medical units and even the coast guard.

We were a bit surprised that this was not talked about on The Daily Show last night. Albeit, Stephen Colbert mentioned it and said he was upset because he could not promote his new Christmas special by stuffing envelopes with fake snow. Every comedy show should have mentioned this very unique and ridiculous event that took place because really, for a comedian, this fiasco was like a hanging curveball meant to be driven out of the park.

Stewart showed a clip of Bush saying “We must balance the federal budget, confront the serious challenge of global climate change, reduce gasoline usage in the US by 20% and make health care affordable for all Americans”.

Of course, this rhetoric is no where in sync with Bush’s policies and Stewart responded with “Interesting, he seems to be contradicting everything he stands for…Wait, I’ve seen this tactic before!…I think it could work!”

He then proceeded to show a clip of Seinfeld where at the diner Jerry advises George that “If every instict you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right.” Which George enthusiastically responds with “Yes, I will do the opposite!”

Sounds good to us Mr. President, since every instinct you have is wrong, just do what George Costanza did, everything worked out great for him in that episode!
