Ok, so PK Winsome has yet to formally announce a run for President in 2008, despite our endorsement of him 2 weeks ago. But here we see him at a function with potential voters.
Everything in this picture shows that PK is thinking to run in 2008. PK is a black Republican, so that means he is assured of getting the black vote. Here we see Christine Jennings, the Democratic candidate for Congress in Florida’s 13th district, the seat that Katherine Harris vacated. Jennings is still a candidate a week after the election, despite Vern Buchanan being declared the winner by the AP.
It was a closely contested battle with Buchanan unofficially winning by 373 votes. But the bigger story here is the unexplained reason why 13% of people who voted did not vote on this race. This is an exceptionally high number and the supervisor of elections is left scratching her head. The voting machines were touch screens and many complained of votes not registering.

We’re sure George Bush thinks it was ages ago that he won re-election and Republicans gained Senate seats in 2004. It was a very close presidential race, yet a defiant Bush spoke the day after the election and said firmly “I have earned political capital and I intend to spend it.”

The founding fathers of this country placed checks and balances to help the nation from becoming a tyranny. The point of our government is to act slowly so that legislators do not act irrationally and have time to sort out issues before diving head first.
With the Republicans controlling the Executive and Legislative branches, the invasion of Iraq was easier. It has also been easier to make harsh decisions that negatively impact the American people in the short and long term.

In 2004, the people of Ohio voted for George Bush and thus provided him another term in office. The decision was a critical mistake by the people of Ohio, who voted against their interests in a heavily manufacturing based economy.
Two additional years of Bush has seen more Ohio manufacturing jobs shipped overseas for cheaper labor. This time Ohio woke up and voted for change, ousting Republican Senator Mike Dewine for Democrat Sherrod Brown and electing new Democratic Governor Ted Strickland, ending a 16 year Republican reign in that post.

With the Democrats having won control of the House and probably the Senate, the scare tactics of Karl Rove and company have finally been defeated. The American people have woken up and realized that they will not tolerate bullshit. It’s been high time for change and a ’smoking mirrors’ strategy can only work for so long. There has been analysis left and right regarding the outcome of this year’s election. Political pundits get paid good money to make predictions and talk gossip about polls and demographics. But often times all the talk leads to innacurate results.
One of the most accurate predicators of elections is bookies. Didn’t know you could gamble on this? Of course you can! God bless America.
Even though polls showed many races tightening, as of yesterday, the Republicans were only given 3-1 odds of retaining control of the House. We may not believe the pundits, but the bookies are pretty good!

This clip is about 3 and 1/2 minutes and yes it is cratchety Lou Dobbs from CNN, but it is worth checking out. The discussion is about e-voting with no paper trail. It’s ridiculous and has no place in our so called democracy. Dead people voting also has no place, yet it happens.

After today, Dennis “Jabba” Hastert may lose his job as Speaker of the House after all. Hastert came under fire for allegedly covering up information that could have exposed Mark Foley earlier. Hastert, like any tough heartless bastard, denied everything and did not relinquish his throne.
However, If the Republicans lose the House today, Denny’s power will dwindle like the cookie crumbs on his suit collar. This could be just deserts for a guy who may have covered for a sex offender, and speaking of deserts, the guy could lay off a few donuts.

Time to get out there and get out the vote! Will all the votes count? Of course not. But given the choice of paper or machine with no paper trail, we recommend paper.
This is not a choice in some states or areas. So if you are voting on one of those machines just make a little wish after you push the buttons and hope your vote counts.
