Yesterday President Bush spoke about an unfortunate milestone for the United States-4,000 troop deaths in Iraq. And of all days for us to hit this sad mark, it came on Easter Sunday with a roadside bomb that killed 4 soldiers.
Regarding the occasion, Bush said “One day, people will look back at this moment in history and say, ‘Thank God there were courageous people willing to serve, because they laid the foundations for peace for generations to come.’ ” Yes, and most people will also look back and say, too bad we had ‘Numb Nuts’ for president.

This picture was taken back in mid-February at the University of South Florida, at an event held as part of the universities’ lecture series. And there’s me doing a Colbert while wearing a shirt that says “Relief Pitcher” and Valerie Plame being an excellent sport. I didn’t put my arm around her for the photo as I thought that a bit much for a former CIA operative who has also donned the cover of Vanity Fair. There has been a lot of talk about water boarding and whether or not it is torture as defined by the Geneva Convention and United States law. The president has said point blank, “we do not torture.” Really, water boarding sounds pretty innocent and maybe even fun. If I didn’t know it was used on terrorist suspects I would envision something along the lines of knee boarding in a lake, which actually can be torture depending on your skill and how fast the driver of the boat is going.

Well, Thomas the Tankcredo is back at it again. In case you hadn’t heard, this man is running for president as a republican and currently serves as a congressman in Colorodo. Perhaps he spends too much time high up in the Rockies and not enough oxygen gets to his brain. This was the man that said the United States should not rule out bombing the holiest Muslim site in Mecca if we were to get attacked again. Yes, an all out Christian-Muslim war must be the answer, let’s just turn the clocks back about 600 years.

Long shot elfish presidential candidate Dennis Kusinich has been a staunch advocate against the Iraq war and Bush/Cheney/Darth Vader Sith Lord policies. On Tuesday, little Dennis got to speak on the House floor and rambled about how Cheney lied to us (about things other than oval office hummers) and for that he believes Cheney deserves to be impeached. Today, Pat “Nut Bar” Robertson made a surprising endorsement of Rudy “9/11″ Giuliani for president. 9/11 Rudy has been leading in the republican polls but has been criticized by social conservatives for being too liberal on abortion and the gays.
In his endorsement of Giuliani, Robertson said “the overriding issue before the American people is the defense of our population from the blood lust of Islamic terrorists.” Wow, sounds pretty terrifying! Sunday on CBS’s 60 Minutes Pakistan’s President, Hamid Karzai said he demands that the US stop using air strikes on his country. He said that back in August when he came to Washington he asked ‘The Decider’ privately that the US stop bombing his country. But since Bush decided that it would continue, Karzai felt compelled to go to the US media and tell the American people about it.
