Congress Looks For New Holocaust in Past Holocaust

by Alex on October 15th, 2007

Nancy Pelosi says she will bring a resolution to the House floor declaring that Turkey committed genocide 90 years ago against native Armenians. It is widely thought that Ottoman Turks ethnically cleansed some 1.5 million Armenians starting in 1915, despite this Bush said “the mass killings” were not an act of genocide.

For obvious reasons Turkey is pretty pissed about this, it’s just not good PR. Especially when they are currently trying to ethnically cleanse Kurds. Do we really need to officially label an old Turkish holocaust when a new one is about to begin? How will they explain that their new mass killings are not genocide when the American Congress votes that their old ones were?

Meanwhile, Turkey has pulled their ambassador from the US and threatened to stop allowing us to use their country as an important hub in our occupation of Iraq. It’s all part of Congress’s thorn in Bush’s ass policy for making their branch of government small and irrelevant. Regardless, it is important that our Congress vote to label things and vote to agree or disagree with public advertisements and statements. Shit, they need something to do!

Nancy Pelosi smirking at constipated Bush image from this place.

    That’s a fantastic photo!

What you don’t mention is that Clinton asked the Republican leadership not to vote on this back in the Gulf War and they didn’t. This is an action by the Dems that is nothing short of traitorous and puts our defense at risk.

You might think I’m a Republican writing this… but I’m not.

Thanks for your comment Douglas. Yeah, the action taken by Pelosi here doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s kinda like telling your buddy that he’s a murdering asshole while expecting to still be able to borrow his SUV to tailgate for the big game.

Ah, the beauty of politics and foreign policy.

I don’t know who’s worse, Nancy Pelosi or Bush. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the comment Eric. My vote for worst is still with Bush but since they are both politicians they are both about as honest as a used car salesman trying to deal a lemon off the lot. Yup, it sure is strong and sturdy!

All the talk about turkey and kurds gets me excited for thanksgiving.

I hope we don’t have to change the name of our poultry! “Freedom fries and Frurkey Breast please!!” OR, worse yet, only tofurkey is sold and we can’t even eat the real thing anymore. Do you know who the real victim here is?

Denise-Yeah hopefully there will be no boycotts on Turkeys this Thanksgiving! Then again if there was you could probably get a great deal on a juicy Butterball for your FryDaddy.

And who knows what Camel cigarettes will do. In the US the cigs say they are a Turkish blend while in Turkey they say the tobacco is American! Seems like Camel may need to stop pandering to those who like foreign things.
