Crummy US Dollar Update

by Alex on November 8th, 2007

Hobo bum says screw you US dollar

Just when you think the US dollar has hit its low it just keeps on dropping like the fall leaves. And the Euro is strengthening like Barry Bonds on bovine steroids. Here are some current currency exhange rates.

1 US dollar=68 freedom hating Euro cents

1 US=93 beaver munching Canadian cents

1 US=1.08 kangaroo Aussie dollars (note the US dollar is actually worth more here but this is extremely bad and to put this in perspective the minimum wage for an adult Aussie is about $14 Aus an hour!)

1 US=47 pasty British cents (a Big Mac value meal will now run you about $10 US over there right now!!)

1 US=24.5 vodka gulping Russian Rubles (I have no idea if that’s bad but probably)

The dollar has plumeted more since China is thinking that investing in US dollars might not be a good idea anymore (we owe their banks a shit load already). Anyways, let’s keep on fighting that war in Iraq until our government goes completely bankrupt and Congress has to hold a big yard sale at the Capitol building. Next time you see one of our dead beat politicians throw a couple bucks at them towards our $9 trillion dollar defecit (literally throw it at them).

You get 110 Japanese Yen for $1, the only problem is, there’s not much you can buy in Japan for 110 JPY! Then again you get almost 11 Mexican Pesos for $1, and you can get some pretty good tacos in Mexico for that price! Lol. It’s all relative!

That’s an excellent point Lynn, I haven’t been to Japan but I’ve been to Korea, Thailand and Vietnam and you get a whole lot more bang for your American buck (and in some cases literally!!) hehe

Fortunately for Americans, if your traveling, the majority of the world is still a place where American dollars can be flung around (but hell of a bad time to be in any other wealthy country with our greenbacks).

Lynn, in Japan you could always hit up the 100 Yen shop! Lots of fun stuff in there for just under a US dollar!!

Ah, gotta love those dollar shops, every country should have one! Screw those dangerous Baghdad markets, let’s just open up some Dollar Generals over there!

Alex those dollar stores do seem to be popping up everywhere! Bellie, thanks for the tip, it’s not the first place I think of going to when I travel, but I’ll have to keep that in mind when I’m looking for something kitsch.

Yup, the dollar shops are a great place to get a hold of some tasty Chinese toothpaste :)

Oh I loved the 100yen shop!! It was the perfect place to find kitsch things, I think they are better than the dollar stores here in the US. Though I agree with Alex and stay away from the toothpaste!!
