SIRENED: Dirty Politics,Cleaned

Greetings From the Netherlands!

by Alex on March 5th, 2008

My wife and I have been in Amsterdam for less than 3 days and while I’ve been to Amsterdam before, trying to live here is a whole different ball game (obviously). Luckily this is Holland and not France (if it were I would probably want to choke someone right now). The Dutch are incredibly laid back, helpful and just about everyone in Amsterdam speaks English.

We thought we had a 7 month lease at our apartment but it looks like we will only be able to stay the month. It’s a long story and in the short term it’s a headache, but in the long run it will probably work out for the best. Even though I have a lap top I don’t have internet access at home yet and free wi-fii is less common here (it’s around though).

Yesterday the weather was crazy, especially for someone who is used to living in Florida. It was windy, then sunny, then it hailed, then rained, then hailed again, then snowed, rained, snowed and then there was good ole’ sleet. Suffice to say I didn’t bring the lap top out today and am just writing from an internet cafe.

While it’s been an incredibly hectic couple days my wife and I have been trying to enjoy this wonderful city in between the chaos of trying to sort through so many different things. Pretty soon I’ll load some funny and quirky Amsterdam shots and throw them on Sirened. It will be tough pickens!
