I guess Bush and company were hoping that Congress wouldn’t read this thing and just say, ok here is your 700 billion dollars Mr. Decider. Then when Congress actually read the proposal and had issues and questions, the administration was like you guys need to pass this like yesterday otherwise people will be eating rats off the street tomorrow.

Then after it became clear that Congress would not simply roll over for Bush, he became willing to make some concessions (like adhering to the constitution for a change). So given the magnitude of the event, Bush kinda felt compelled to come out and try to explain how everything got all screwed up.

Bush’s tone was interesting, much more mellow than some of his previous addresses on big events like RAH, Scary Terrorists, RAH, 9-11, RAH, Mass Destruction, RAH, Dick Cheney eats babies, RAH. Don’t get me wrong, he still does a good job of trying to scare us shit less, the tone was just down a notch.

Though I’m confused because John McCain said the fundamentals of the economy are strong.

In case you missed it last night here is President George-John “Insane in the Membrane” BuCain endorsing the real change, “country first” candidate. You know, the one that voted with itself 90% of the time.

Probably the best thing Bush could have done for McCain would have been to come out and endorse Barack Obama.

But notice how John McCain wasn’t at the convention last night when Bush was speaking and how we never see them together these days. Is it possible that they, in fact, really are the same person now!?!

It’s a fun night of headlining “aww shucks” politicians, followed by a discreet satellite appearance by the president of the United States, this monkey.

It’s clear that the star of Drop Dead Fred is an Obama supporter. I say we let the celebrities caucus to decide our next president, it’s about as fair as the current electoral system.

From a business perspective, it made total sense for the media to do what they did. After President Bush put weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein in the same sentence, some 80% of Americans supported a toppling of the regime. So the media was simply reporting on what the general public wanted to hear, not doing so could have resulted in a serious drop in ratings and loss of revenue.

In recent days, CNN’s Jessica Yellin has said that former executives helped frame her reports on Iraq to depict the president in a more positive light. Also, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews discussed the way the media was manipulated by the administration to misconstrue information pertaining to Iraq.

It’s high time the media started investigating and reporting on themselves and their accountability for the War in Iraq. Being in the vast minority of those who opposed the Iraq War from the beginning, I was appalled by the main stream media’s horrendous coverage leading up to the invasion.

It’s hard to explain why else he would take a cheap (and bullshit) shot at an American politician in front of the Israeli parliament.

Hey, remember that fiasco that happened back in 2000, when we elected Al Gore as president but got George “pretend cowboy” Bush instead. Well, now you can relive that moment on May 25th with the HBO film Recount starring Kevin Spacey, Dennis Leary, Laura Dern and Tom Wilkinson. What a great cast! I can’t wait to see how they’ve portrayed my home state at the moment we fucked up the world.

I don’t just blame other Floridians either as I had a stake in the mistake too. In 2000, as a protest vote I decided to vote for Ralph Nader (obviously having no clue it would be so close), then I watched the election coverage and rooted for Al Gore. My best friend still likes to remind me how I helped fuck everything up. Thanks Brian!
