We Won!
This year, Time magazine made all of us a winner by making everyone Person of the Year. After careful consideration, they decided to name “You” the winner because of all your work in restructuring and diversifying the media. The media has grown much larger because of bloggers and the refreshing viewpoints that have come about.
This is also a great marketing ploy by Time to sell more magazines. What do you think would sell more copies, “You” on the cover or Kim Jong II? We’re thinking they will sell a lot more copies this way.
Time has sometimes chosen leaders who have gone on to be dictators. Adolph Hitler was named Person of the Year in 1938 for rebuilding Germany’s economy in the 1930’s, a year later he invaded Poland and started World War II. George Bush also won the award in 2000 and has made a reasonable attempt at starting World War III. The Onion wrote a joke about a dictator who did a last minute slaughtering to be Person of the Year. The question is, will “You” end up becoming a murdering and ruthless dictator? Someone has to!
