SIRENED: Dirty Politics,Cleaned

What is a Caucus?

by Alex on December 22nd, 2007

Iowa Caucus

It seems like our presidential candidates have been campaigning for a year (some have) and we’re just now finally coming up on the primaries. The first votes will be cast in Iowa on January 3rd but this is a caucus, not a primary. So for those not interested in politics this just makes the process all the more fun.

The word caucus comes from a Native American word meaning “a gathering of ruling tribal chiefs.” There are 1,784 precincts in Iowa and at each precinct people gather in groups and vote on the candidates. Some republican precincts choose only 1 delegate but the vote must be a majority.

So let’s say the guys above represent a republican caucus, from left to right let’s call them Billy, Bob, Toby and Keith. And since they are a very small caucus their dog Brownie gets a vote too (the dead pheasants don’t).

Let’s say all 4 men and their dog have individual favorites and thus vote for 5 different candidates. That won’t elect a delegate so they need to re-vote or their vote doesn’t count. Keith is high on crystal meth and lacks the patience to vote again. Brownie fears his owner Toby may not feed him and decides to caucus with him. Bob owes Toby $100 in gambling debts which Toby agrees to write off if Bob caucuses with him. Billy sticks with his initial vote but that’s tough shit because the vote is 3-1 and a precinct delegate is chosen. The pheasants are still dead and don’t count.

If that’s still confusing ask someone in Iowa what a fucking caucus is. I live in Florida, home of the hanging Chad.

Why is it neccessary to use the “F” word in this description? Kids and young people have access to this. Idiots.

  • Alex

Fritz-Kids and young people have access to a lot of things that are much worse than seeing the word fuck.

Sorry that this website is PG-13!

    Fritz . . .
I am so sick and tired of you self rightious, pretentious, politically correct piece of crap hypocrite types imposing your ilk on others. So the guy dropped the “f” word, as you call it. SO THE F*** WHAT!!!
People like you have been for years making it impossible for me, without children, from seeing boobs on Network TV. All the while setting your spawn in front of the TV playing violent video games and or watching violent movies and or TV shows. I personally would rather see tits and listen to dicriptive words than see blood and guts that is so prevailant.

If you were so upset about him dropping the “F” Bomb, why did you say nothing about the word Shit being used in the article? For the record, he used 12 “f” words and two phonetic “f” words. To which were you refering??? Please be discriptive.

Love the explanation…thanks! And I also agree that kids and young people have access to worse things than the “F” word. The kids now are not as innocent as the kids 20 years ago…get over it!

Alex-Kids have access to much worse…you’re not on the right side of the issue. Why pile-on? It’s totally out of context, inappropriate, and has no class. Grow up. And by the way, it was an otherwise good article. Thanks.

The word “caucus” is from Old English and meant a goblet-type of drinking vessel: when friends met together, they shared a drink in a single vessel…caucus came to mean the name of the group instead of the cup. Otherwise, that is a very interesting way to describe a caucus ;-)

so, a caucus just helps a certain party decide whom they want to pick to run for their certain party by how many votes they get before they are voted for? sheesh. Are you sure the pheasants can’t vote? I’m sure there are alot of dead people voting.

  • Mike
    Jan 2, 2008 at 11:29 pm

I agree with Fritz. Using the explicit F-word was not necessary. “Frigging” or “f***ing” would result in the same proof that this otherwise good description of a caucus came from a real man and not some limp wristed sissy man.

I thought this was clever. I’m going to hook my homies up to this informative and funny. I’d just like to say that if you are at all politically minded, and if you care about the healthcare situation in this country, start RIGHT NOW researching SINGLE PAYOR HEALTHCARE and you can do that through NNOC, The National Nurses Organizing Committee, or just look up Rose Ann DeMoro, or CNA, California Nurses Association. We, my fellow Americans, the Registered Nurses of this United States, are the ones who are at the front lines and we are the ones who have got it right. I’ve been a RN for 34 years and I know from where I speak. LET’S FORCE THESE CANDIDATES to stop the double talk, as in, “I’m for making INSURANCE for our health AFFORDABLE.” What bullshit. People don’t understand but if you hook up to CNA or NNOC you will be informed by the smartest, most dedicated, most passionate and DEFINATELY MOST WELL INFORMED people in this healthcare debate. I don’t know about you, but for me, some 80 year old gentleman who has lived a good life and contributed to America for all those years, raised children, worked hard and worked everyday of his life, should NOT have to ask, when offered a Respiratory treatment to help him breath because he is short of breath…”does my INSURANCE cover this?” Please trust me. All I do for a living is work every day and take care of lovely human beings who are at the mercy of the Nixon created HMO’s who are in 50th floor offices on Madison Ave and Park Ave. Get right on this okay? and don’t let them continue to lie to you. I wish I was Paul Revere and could start the next American Revolution….because, folks, we need to REVOLT in the streets about this. And that is all I have to say about that. Anyone who reads this, please feel free to email me at the address earlybird09@yahoo.com and I will be glad to direct you to the RIGHT AND HONEST AND REAL healthcare professionals who you can join together with to educate yourselves about this travesty and this holocaust of our moms, our dads, our grandmas, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, next door neighbors and friends. And our grocery store clerks, our teachers, nurses, coaches, electricians, pipefitters, etc. So far, all of the candidates I’ve seen are kissing the asses of the big money Insurance/HMO magnates who we, my fellow Americans, have allowed to run this show. IT IS TIME FOR A REVOLT BY THE REGULAR EVERYDAY CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY.
Won’t you please at least look at this and if you see where we are coming from, join us? CNA/NNOC….they have the platform and the experience and the honesty. That last word…that’s the truth, and I’m sticking to it.

Thanks for the comments everyone, for those upset by the use of the word fuck, I apologize.

I’ve never had so many comments on a post in such a short period of time. Thanks a bunch, it’s most appreciated.

All the fuss over the word fuck kinda reminds me of how lots of people went nuts over the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl. And we didn’t even get to see her nipples!

Anyways, I’m glad that lots of you found this post entertaining/informative and let me know. Enjoy the Iowa Caucus! ;)

    Hey Alex,
What I find interesting is that so many schmucks are going off on the word fuck…I mean, come on. What’s with that? That’s what made me go to this site. I think you have hit the nail on the head, and the fact that it was right on top of Yahoo says so much about how smart and right your site is. You go! I think you and your site is genius and so right on the money! Good for you! And thanks for your brilliant insight and direction.

This guy mike who wrote the words limp wristed sissy man must be some macho mustached fruit who would stoop to the level of calling you that. what a jerk that faggot must be…..ha! try that on for size, mike. You schmuck dork. Let’s argue! I’m not serious about arguing, but it is WAY MORE ugly to have read your hateful post about someone you do not even know than to read the word fuck. This mike guy must be a real fucking bore. Got that? Notice that I do not even capitalize the M in mike. That’s intentional, you fucking schmuck.

Hey Maureen, thanks a bunch for all the nice things you said! You rock!

Yeah, not sure what some people’s beef is but for those that have “causes” there are far better places to visit than this one!

I’m really glad to see a funny discussion going on here though! This site hasn’t been serious in awhile and yet I still get lots of serious comments.

I accept them all though-even when people ream me out. It shits me when you have “serious” members of the media like Lou Dobbs who ask loaded poll questions where 98% of people agree with him and he only shows comments where people totally praise him.

    Anyways, thanks again! :)

This was an effing great article. I’m 29 years old, live in Illinois on the Iowa border and FINALLY someone explained what a damn caucus was to me in terms I could understand. Thank you!!!!!! And Maureen, I agree. I’m an RN as well…

Perhaps I should have given the dead pheasants a vote; it would have given a more accurate depiction of how politics work in certain districts of this country ;).

  • Fred
    Jan 3, 2008 at 3:44 am

The dead pheasants being able to vote would have been more illustrative of politics in certain parts of the country. I wouldn’t sweat it though the explanation was excellent in depicting apathy, arm twisting and “one hand washing the other”. Plus now I know what a Cacus is which is how I ended up here to begin with.

  • Bukko in Australia
    Jan 3, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Perhaps the bad “F” word in this case is “Fritz.”

Anyway, fuck that fucking fuck. It’s a dirty word. On a blog. The Empire will not crumble, children will not weep and rend their garments, women will not have sex with horses in the streets, because you used a gratuitous F-bomb. Americans should GROW UP!

I know, because I am one. My wife and I emigrated Down Under in 2005 because we didn’t want to keep paying taxes to support the Bush fascist genocide, and because we foresaw the upcoming economic implosion and wanted to get out while our money was still worth something. People here are not afraid of the word “fuck.” (Aussies do have an aversion to “cunt,” however — that’s considered extra-nasty.) “Fuck” is uttered on over-the-airwaves (not just cable) television and printed without asterisks in some (but not all) mainstream publications.

“Shit” is printed in all the major newspapers. The former national health minister Tony Abbott (a holier-than-thou Christian) described one of his fuck-ups in the recent parliamentary campaign by saying “Shit happens.” That clip got played on all the TV networks here, even the government-run ones, and Abbott obligingly repeated it when he was asked “Did you really mean to say that?” And yet the Empire did not crumble, etc.

As long as I’m ranting, the over-the-air networks show naked boobs, usually after 10 p.m., if it’s part of a movie or documentary. During the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2006, the local arts channel was broadcasting live bits of some of the acts and it showed one in which two female comediennes and a man “got their kit off” (stripped nekkid) and were prancing around the stage as part of the routine (which was lame.) That featured a flopping weiner and jiggling boobies, shown in real time and available to anyone who had a TV set tuned to Channel 31. Again, not cable. It didn’t even merit a mention in the other media.

Why? Because Australians are GROWN UP. Shit happens. So does fuck and penises and breasts and vaginas. Australians are not particurlarly licentious (especially not compared to French television) but they don’t get in a tizzy over tits like Americans. I mean, a country with all the porn and prostitution and incest as the U.S. and people like Fritz are getting their balls in a bench vise over the word “fuck”?

I’m finished venting. Just wanted to say I hit the link to your site that was on the “Welcome to Pottersville” blog and liked the caucus explanation. Even thought I already knew what a the Iowa caucuses were. But keep up the good work of educating people. Eveb ignorant fuckers like this Fritz.

What a great explanation! I just went to the number two link to get a second definition from the nebraska democrat party. “Fuckin’ A”, no wonder our government doesn’t work. I couldn’t even read thru the mumbo jumbo. I’m retired special ops, we were trained to make communications brief and and clear. When I was in, fuck was a usefull word which added the correct amount of emphasis to get the job done. Maybe if a real man canidate had the balls to use the word, “fuck”, we could cut thru the politically correct bullshit and figure out who really identified with the working man. I also love to see a good woman who knows how to use the word.

  • Fyodor
    Jan 3, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Comrade, I beg to dissent with your definitovich of “caucus.” In my country, we have beautimous mountain range called Caucasus Mountains which separate civilized continent of Europe from barbarian Mongol continent of Asia. A “caucus” is singular name for one mountain in range. Please correct in honor of country which invents the word.

  • Fritz
    Jan 3, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Well, I am surprised at the many negative responses to my comment about using thf “F” word so unnessesarily in this description. I am not merely directing this comment at this article alone but how easily we all use profanity these days and just accept that our kids are already “exposed” to such language, so that makes it…and worse okay and no big deal. Well, I do my best to refrain from using it around young people and even others. I was in the Navy for 21 years and foul language was everywhere.
But if we really want a bette nation and future for our kids, we all need to “grow up” and be better examples for them, not only in language but in behavior.

And to the person who said I will probably vote for Hillary, WRONG. I will vote for someone like Huckabee who is pro-life and cares about family values.

    Good day all.

  • Angie
    Jan 3, 2008 at 5:27 pm

Absolutely true. I was ignorant as to what is a caucus…until today. I am 37 years old and never really cared. But today for some reason I asked the question. Glad I did. I know my 10 year old is going to come home and ask me what a caucus is and now I can explain it. Woo-Hoo for me I still get to be the one with all the answers…for her anyway.

  • Kevin
    Jan 3, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Wow. I can’t imagine someone like Fritz would vote for someone like Huckabee who embraces family values.

Fritz, what the phuck does that even mean anymore? You stupid right-wingers will vote for any nutjob as long as he will outlaw abortions and make snake handling and pew walking mandatory. Let a candidate throw the word “Jesus” out there, and you goofwads start going rabid.

Sorry, Fritzy, but this country has had its fill of religious crazies. You and your sorry lot were played like a cheap fiddle in the last two elections. We got a president who spoke in the name of the Lord, but circumvented about 2,000 laws.

I’m a religious man, however. I thank God that W’s days are numbered.

Hey Fritz, I am a right wing Republican and feel you are a disgrace to my beliefs. I don’t like FUCKING Huckabee, but I will support a Republican over the current lot of POS Democrats running. Regardless, have you ever flipped through the channels and seen “Pro Wrestling” on TV. The audience is mostly comprised of small children watching wrestling Divas giving lap dances and “pro wrestling idols” killing their wife and kids in a roid rage. So in short, who the Fuck cares about the use of the word Fuck when used in a non sexual manner on a blog page that gave a fucking excellent description of what the fuck a Caucus is.

With all the violence and other bullshit that kids are exposed to, I would be happy if a youngster pried himself or herself away from you tube and my space to actaully take the time and be inquistive enough to learn what a Caucus is.

Hey Fritz, expend your fucking energy on something really fucking important.

Btw, I still think the dead fucking pheasants should be able to vote.

I have rarely read anything so clever.
Lay off Fritz - he is, as we say, entitled to his opinion. If there were no “Fritz”, there would be no need for Fred or john or the rest of you who apparently are really attached to the F word! The ranting about Fritz’s repsonse WAS offensive - but then I am more offended by a lack of language skills than the use of any one word….regardless of the word.
Thanks Alex - you made me laugh!

Btw Fritz, which is more repulsive? Alex’s excellent explanation of what is a caucus (with one fuck at the end) or the parent of a 6 year old that lied and said the little girl’s father died in Iraq in an essay to win a pair of Hannah Montana tickets. You think about that one for a while.

You Liberals really disgust me. Like you Kevin. Oh, it’s ok to kill unborn babies which have a soul at the moment of conception, but lets ban all the guns that good, decent people like myself own. You think we shouldn’t worship God but what does that hurt? Has any true believer ever hurt anyone? I’m not talking about the world full of crazies that commit violence in the name of our lord. They really worship Satan and call him God. Let’s be liberal and tax everyone to death so that we can’t afford to put food on our tables for our kids. The Federal Government knows better than me how to spend my money. You liberals are the scurge of the earth and your whats going to bring about the end. (For those of you who believe in the bible.) Your like the one liberal friend I have who believes that god is an alien and when man dies he goes to pluto. lmao

Thanks again to everyone who’s had nice things to say about this post! It’s most appreciated.

Betty-”Mr. Fritz made a valid comment and I agree with him.” Well put and extremely insightful! Thank god for people like “Mr. Fritz”!

Bukko in Australia-Yeah I hear ya man. I lived in Melbourne, Australia for a year and have been married to an Aussie girl for almost 3 years now (we met traveling in Belgium). We moved back to Florida because I have family here but we’re leaving again. It’s people like Fritz and those that agree with him about something so stupid that make people in other countries laugh *at* us.

I loved that Bonds bra commercial in Australia where this couple is looking at some random girl and the wife says “nice bra” and the husband says “nice tits.” I was shocked to see that on TV because I grew up in the US.

In countries like France and Greece they show XXX porn on regular TV after dark. Yet the terrorists hate Americans because they hate freedom?? Last I checked nobody flew a plane into the Eiffel Tower. There’s a smidge more to it than that.

My wife got a position at the University of Amsterdam and we’re relocating there beginning of March. I’ll miss my family and friends here in the USA but look forward to living in a land with far less fuckin’ Fritz’s!!

Good luck in A’dam, Alex! Mrs. Bukko and I always stop there near the beginning of each holiday to Europe (gotta love those six weeks of leave that Aussie workers get) for, ahem, travel supplies… I’m liberal (not in the John Howard political sense of the word, though) and I find A’dam a bit louche for my tastes. But to each their own. It’s relaxing to be in such a live-and-let-live place (unless you’re Theo van Gogh.)

And Fritz, since you’re probably still reading these comments, I don’t hate ya, mate. I’m just “taking the piss,” Aussie slang for slagging someone with (hopefully) some humour. I think you’re a bit of a prig, but I will defend to the death your right to say that Alex does not have a right to say what he wants. Which is somewhat of a contradiction.

There’s an old saying that when it came to British colonialising, Australia got the prisoners and America got the Pilgrims. You, sir, are an example of why I think Oz got the better end of that bargain.

  • Reality
    Jan 4, 2008 at 6:13 am

The reality of the situation is that anyone has the ability to write anything.

Whether it is on the internet or on a piece of paper, something can be generated for anyone to see. Printed up, bound in hard-back and stacked high in the local bookstore…submitted in a newspaper column…written on a sticky note and pasted on your desk…stamped on postal envelopes…embossed on the coins that jingle in your pockets…branded across countless cattle…sewn threw the sky by a single-engine plane…dumped in the form of flyers from a hot air balloon…or nailed to the church door, all are ways that we have been given incredible liberty, freedom of choice, to choose to write whatever we want, whenever we want.

How moral and how appropriate is the delivery are also part of that choice. Our children have the same freedom of choice as we have all been given. It is up to the custodians, guardians and general-care-givers to educate the children to make the best decisions, or the decisions in which we feel are the best moral decisions to make. In the end, though, you can never take away the children’s freedom of choice, just as you can not remove that of the author of this blog.

It is easier to educate and influence a single mind which shares the same daily environment that you encounter, than to assemble enough energy to educate yourself on the daily environments of others in an effort to sway their own opinions.

  • Heather
    Jan 4, 2008 at 2:29 pm

OK I now have an opinion. Everyone keeps referencing young folks here and how we’re not interested in politics. Well, I happen to think I am still one of those young folks. I’m 29 and yes I do attempt to pay attention to politics even though it gets harder & harder with all the idiots out there.

I have an issue with people throwing around the term “patriotic” and in the same breath saying they hate Bush. I am not necessarily a fan of him but I do support him. We did elect him, for better or for worse, and even though I don’t agree with everything he does or says, I feel that as an AMERICAN I must back him. What happened to “United we stand, divided we fall”?? I don’t agree with his stance on abortion or gay marriage but then again I am not going to agree with the next president’s views on everything. We have to be realistic people. No one can please everyone all of the time. That’s a pipe dream…

We need to elect someone that is respectful of all views but has the balls to do what he/she thinks is right. I wish someone would actually stand up and say they were pro-choice instead of skirting the issue. I have much more respect for people that can do that than the ones who do a well rehearsed tap dance.

And to Fritz, I agree we need to be better role models for our children but that entails way more than the use of a “fuck”. But in my opinion, that starts at home, not with a caucus discussion online and one really has nothing to do with another. Religious you say….well I say how the hell can you claim to be religious and be pro-life…I thought Christians were forgiving folks? Not only that, but don’t you believe God has a plan?? Well what if his plans included abortion…could be aborting the next Satan on Earth and you religious nutjobs just let him in…to me it’s hypocritical and wrong to be teaching that to our children. I believe in God and I believe in our nation…I believe in patriotism and I learned that fucking shit at home!!

Bravo Heather extremely well put. For the record I voted twice for Bush. The first time, because I had faith in him, the second time because I was not in favor of Kerry. While I am a Republican, I despise the religious crap in the party platform. I have been berating the RNC for about two decades on this issue. For years they used to send me surveys or questionaires asking me what is the most important issues that should be in the platform and what should be dropped with a request for a “volunatry contribution” preferrably in certain specific value levels. After getting nowhere (from my perspective) I still sent my opinions in but stopped sending in the “contribution checks.” Ultimately, the platforms never dropped the abortion issues etc nor adopted or at least promoted the ones I identified, but the surveys stopped being sent to me. I guess they never read them. Someone once told me they just took the envelopes returned and shook out the check and tossed the survey in the garbage.
While Bush has been a tremendous disappointment the current crop of presedential candidates on both sides of the aisle leave alot to be desired. However I still support Bush since he is OUR commander in chief.

Having said all of that long winded nonsense, people like Fritz make me ashamed that HE is a republican. Alex’s blog (which I stumbled on by way of the caucus post) is great. Uptight assholes like Fritz that want to be the moral authority for all is just sickening. Fritz should worry about how he conducts his life instead of telling everyone else how to run theirs. If Fritz really wanted to clean up the internet, “Oh God, save the children Alex said Fuck” he would be attacking billions of sites that are really graphic and more accessible to children.
Hey Fritz if Huckabees religous values are so important to you as a candidate they why not go for the mother load and vote for a Cardinal or hell lets get the pope to run in the New Hampshire primary.
For me however, I get my religous ideals from my house of worship and my politics, from the sleazy politicians.
Oh and Fritz as I said before, I do not Fucking CURSE IN FRONT OF CHILDREN. If any children have torn themselves away from their filth ridden rap songs, internet porn, violence, more violence, even more violence lust for the next fad, idol worship, etc. and stumbled on this site and saw my gratuitous use of the word fuck I apologize. However since I am confident that children (a) do not view boring sites (to them) like this and (b) children are exposed to alot worse than Alex’s editorial then I will close by saying Fritz you are just one plain uptight asshole and Betty molests collies.

Alex, again, good article. I think most folks have missed the point with the objection to the use of profanity, that being it was a clever, informative article, and the use of profanity took something away from that. I drop an f-bomb every now and then for emphasis, but it’s a context-sensitive decision. Using profanity is appropriate in some places, and not in others. Would you not agree with that simple statement? How is a young person ever going to learn that if we lower the bar so low that the distinction is blurred to the point where, unfortunately, it is now? Again, where is the discretion? Where is the class? I get that you have the right to write and say whatever you want in this country…does that mean you have to take the low road? I hear a lot of people out there in this discussion who sound like spoiled children who think it’s all about them. Christian or not, it is not, my brothers and sisters, all about you.

Hi Heather, Good afternoon. As far as me being “Religious” I am not. I am a Man and a Father concerned about our Nation. I am divorced but I have two teenage children I care about with all my heart.

I served my/our nation for 21 years. I have found that our nation is going downhill (morally) and we forget that our children are on the sidelines…watching. We, the Adults set the example. We, the adults will set the course for future decisions by those we influence.

I’m from Malaysian chinese and i found this article and its feedback very amusing and enlightening…i don’t feel there’s an excessive use of the f word here probably mainly because i feel the word is used quite often in our daily conversations…especially in American movies, tv shows etc etc… Having said that Mr. Fritz has a reason to be concerned because using excessive profanities in ur speeches is not really a ‘good’ thing…especially in front of the young ones…some of you might feel restricting the use of f word is not a ‘cool’ thing to do and Ppl shouldn’t treat him as a ‘overzealous moralista’ or labelled him as a sissy or whatsover because everyone is entitled to his/her opinion…just my 2 cents…

Dan-Thanks and yeah I’ll answer that question. No I don’t think it’s ok to drop the f bomb anywhere. Would I intentionally do it at a school or around kids? No of course not. That being said, my use of the word on my site was to emphasize a point. I try to be entertaining and informative on this site.

Did I place this post so high on Yahoo’s search for what is a caucus? No, that was Yahoo but I’m really glad they did because I’ve had so many people come in and tell me how much they’ve enjoyed this post. And it’s greatly appreciated!

Plus, there have been people who have specifically said that the reason they clicked on this post was because of the inclusion of the word fuck. And guess what? They said they learned something here too. So would I change anything about this? Hell no! Not even Fritz! :)

If people want stuffy descriptions of things, this isn’t the place. But to everyone who’s said nice things and made other nice comments on other posts as well, again, thank you very much.

Also, I normally reply to everyones posts individually but because this post has had an abnormally high number of comments it would be way too confusing here.

    by Fritz….

Fritz, don’t fall on your ass while back pedaling you pathetic soul. Your original complaint/objection/concern was that a child might stumble across this blog and see the word “fuck” on Alex’s site.

If your NEW position is setting an example for future generations well you should start somewhere you can get the most “bang for your buck”, which is not here.

I have a dear friend who served 26 years in the Navy and retired after many years as a CO. He sends me and many other e-mails that you might view as innapropriate. Unlike you he has been happily married for over 35 years and is a loving Father and Grandfather of children that are beautiful and sucessful.

I think Fritz, you have missed the forest from the trees. Instead of trying to censor the world, you should practice good parenting. However, based on your behavior and personal circumstances it seems highly unlikely you are capable of doing that.
Stop worrying about everyone else and fix your own home you self righteous fuck.
And since you adore the word so much, FUCK Huckabee!

I think anybody who claims that it’s “god’s plan” to murder unborn children has more than just a “screw loose”. What in the hell is wrong with you betty? No wonder the end is near. I guess when we all die, we will all find out that God does exist and we will answer for our sins. I’m not trying to sound like your typical religious “nut” because i’m not. That’s right. I’m not. I think there are many people in this world who belong in hell sucking satan’s puss filled cock. Hey Alex, I think your post is great, and I loved your explanation of a caucus. I found all of it amusing. I can’t believe people here claim to be religious but they think that abortion is fine. I’m pretty sure that abortion had nothing to do with your original post but hey, others here have brought it into light. I am a christian, but I like to use the word FUCK because it provides a good outlet for my frustration with society. What the hell is wrong with those of you who think that conservatives are wrong by thinking that killing our unborn children is a sin? It’s murder people, wake up! I know that a few liberals still believe in our Lord. But how can you worship him and think it’s o.k. to murder unborn children. That is the standard party line for liberals isn’t it? There are so many ways to keep from having kids today that if you don’t want one, you don’t have to get pregnant. Liberals love to talk about peace and happiness, but then they support the disgusting hollywood liberals who make movies about drugs, sex and murdering a hundred people per film. Bunch of fucking hypocrites. Let’s disguss gun control. You liberals love lots of gun control. Do you really believe that that crackhead down the street really cares about any laws? So you liberals believe that by disarming law abiding citizens like myself, you will help prevent crime. How stupid! They are criminals because they don’t follow our laws. Hello! The only way gun control will succeed, is to take every gun out of every hand in our country. If you think that this is possible, I feel sorry for you because it isn’t. So, I enjoy shooting my guns and having the ability to protect myself, although I prefer to never have to take another person’s life. If you don’t like it, move to China. Let’s be liberal and talk about conservatives who waste money defending this country so you liberal idiots can be free to pervert our society. I’m tired of the war in Iraq, i’m tired of seeing our brave men and woman die for what seems like a wasted cause. But I strongly support them and I thank them for doing what I am know to old to do. God bless you all. We the people who are on the religious right are not all uptight and “crazy”. Liberals disgust me when they claim that. I like to eat pussy and drink a beer occasionaly too. Can’t we all agree to disagree and start being the United States of America again? This country is far from united anymore. We all want to make the most money and have the best car and live in the biggest most expensive house. That’s all people seem to care about these days. They will protest our President for doing what he thinks is right, but they will scorn the poor person down the street who needs a blanket or cup of water. Oh well, my words will hardly change any of your minds. But, if I do get to one person, I have succeeded.
    Thank you for reading….

Betty since you are “definately” (sic) pro-life then whenever you fuck and become impregnated you have little offspring which is fine.
I hope, if you have daughters they do not get raped because during the act of rape the female is usually being fucked violently against her own will in which case she might become pregnant. Heaven forbid if she aborts the fetus. That is the paramount issue never to abort the fetus. By the way what does any of this have to do with running the fucking country?

  • Dan
    Jan 5, 2008 at 9:41 pm

Alex-Thanks for the response. My initial reaction was spurred by seeing the “What is a caucus?” link right there front and center on Yahoo. I pictured many young (8-12 year old) students who might want to find out what the adults are talking about. I’m 52 years old, politically independent/libertarian, and no saint. Yet, I raised my seventeen year old daughter, who indeed has heard it all by now, that it didn’t used to be this way, and doesn’t have to always be that way now. I’ve tried to teach her to be considerate of other’s sensibilities, yet keep a sense of her self and what’s right for her. What I’ve learned over the last few days of reading these and many other blogs, comments on Youtube etc. is that the fabric of society has definitely changed. I see many who feel a sense of entitlement, and damn everyone and everything who doesn’t agree with them. My point was, it really has nothing to do with uptightness, Puritanism, or Christianity, or politics. It simply has to do with character, what your stand is in the world, and your vision of a desireable future. I get that the Internet can be a raunchy place, but it can also be a wonderful tool. Your point is well taken. You are aiming for a certain audience by use of the f bomb, and congratulations, it seems you’ve found a few fans. You are an intelligent and entertaining writer, and I wish you well in Australia. I’ve gotten clear on a few things here. Thanks again for the article.

Just in case you all were wondering, I’m not as ignorant as I sound in my previous posts. As you can see I can spell “definitely” and it’s probably my only source of pride.

I also know that if Betty wants to have sex without getting pregnant, there are many methods of contraception (I just learned that in school today!).

I also know that a study has shown that only about 0.6% of all abortion cases are from rape victims and more than 70% of all rape victims choose not to have an abortion.

Again, I’m trying to grow up so please overlook my previous idiotic comments.

If you really read everything you should have noted that Alex was moving to Amerstdam not Australia. That is OK though as things can get muddied with the “Thought Gestapo” crying over save the children someone posted the word fuck.
If you judge the fabric of society based on what you claim to have reviewed, you should really check what children are either exposed to or are contributing to. It is somewhat hideous unless you condone unmitigated violence, pornography, etc. Maybe just maybe the children can somehow recover and not be scarred over one use of the word fuck in an excellent essay about the caucus. I pray their wounds are healed and their are no lasting effects.
Just remember you can always fix everything by clensing your soul on Sunday. So I can fuck up all week, just like Fritz and Betty and get my free (or for a small contribution) get out of jail card on Sunday. Huckabee hopes to make sure our Federal Government promotes this stupid fucking shit even if he can’t run a country or deal with world affairs at least he will maintain the all critical religious code of ethics.
Well Fuck you, I do not feel bad about saying this for I will atone tomorrow and all will be fine. My neighbor who fucks everyone but his spouse will be along side me at the pew getting his forgiveness too.
Have a nice day all and enjoy the NFL playoffs and the fucking New Hampshire Presidential debates.

My apolagies Betty, that was directed at Heather and the rest of my rant was directed to anyone who cared. I’m glad you and I agree on the issue of abortion.

    Hey 45,
I never claimed that I was religious and that it was “God’s plan”. It was meant to make a point, not necessarily my own beliefs. However, I am pro-choice because in my opinion we should all be allowed to make our decisions. Who the hell is the government to tell me what I can and can’t do with my own body??? I find it funny that people talk about how they want freedom yet are prolife. Do you have any idea how much research and development can come from those embryos? We can do something fantastic with something so awful. The government already makes me wear my seatbelt and now in Illinois there is a no smoking law in public places. Yes I would wear my seatbelt anyway because I did before it was mandatory and I don’t smoke but that doesn’t mean I don’t still believe in basic civil liberties. Where does it end is my point? I can’t stand thinking that by the time my kids are grown they are going to live in a fascist society and not ever know what it was like to have “freedom”. I am also tired of the war but I support them wholeheartedly. God bless them. However, I wonder why we fight for everyone else’s freedom and let our own go by the wayside?? Government has too much control. I am an RN and I see what kind of control they have over the healthcare system but nationwide healthcare is so not the answer. It’s a quick fix to the problem. So, I am sorry if I offended you because that was truly not my intention; it was to only make a point and hopefully get someone thinking about something they otherwise may not have.

Good grief Betty give it a rest. You and Fritz are just control freaks. In Fritz’s case it worked out so well for him that his wife abandoned him.
He must be a nightmare to live with and a bet your a real peach too. You two are funny, you can fuck your fellow man to get what you want, you just want it to be labeled something more polite. HYPOCRITS!

  • Ed

    Hey Putz (Fritz)

Why haven’t you answerd my question way at the top of these responses?:
“If you were so upset about him dropping the “F” Bomb, why did you say nothing about the word Shit being used in the article? For the record, he used 12 “f” words and two phonetic “f” words. To which were you refering??? Please be discriptive.”
Are you just selective in your moral censorship?

It’s not ok to support someone leading the nation down, as Jr. has done the last eight years. Didn’t we learn anything from 1930’s Germany? . . . Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11! Right after elections in November, no matter who wins, I hope the other side of the isle impeaches him. I’m sure it will cost less than the republican’s lynching of Clinton for oral sex in the Oval Office.

Children, please do not read that last line!

  • Fritz
    Jan 6, 2008 at 5:26 am

To Ed, in answer to your question, it doesn’t matter what the word is, profanity is profanity.
I understand some simple minded adultsd can’t express themselves without using profanity. But, we should be adult enough to try and set a better example for our children. Good evening.

Hi Alex I just stumbled across your article. I actually have been sitting here for the better part of an hour reading it and all the comments. The article explaining what a caucus is was fantastic from both an informational and entertainment standpoint. You have a gift for writing. Good luck with your site. Most of the comments were witty and clever too.
And for Fritz and Betty I have three lovely small children that have never heard my husband or I use curse words. However you two are seriously fucked up people that should get the pole out of your ass.
    Thanks again Alex!

  • Betty
    Jan 6, 2008 at 4:39 pm

Mr. “DH” I really ought not respond anymore to your comments, they are usually rather nasty. But I will tell you whenever I decide to have children I will be married. That is the way to do it so the child(ren) have a home and parents.

And these things have everything to do with our nation, it is about not becoming another “single mother” and returning to the family unit, which is best for our kids and thus our nation.

  • Dickhead
    Jan 6, 2008 at 7:08 pm

Betty, you have gone so far off topic that I fear you might need a compass, GPS & radar to find your course back to the issue at hand. As I have stated I do not believe in using profanity to or in front of children. What this has to do with being a single mother lord only knows. Are you referring to Fritz’s children being raised by their single mother?
What do any of these issues have to do with Alex writing an essay on what a caucus is (which was quite accurate and informative). Fritz took exception to the use of the word “fuck” at the end of the essay because children have access to the internet. Do you seriously think this is even remotely the worst thing children can stumble across on the internet. I would think most level headed individuals would say it would rank somewhere behind a trillion and a half other things “objectional” on the internet. Fritz is a miserable fuck, who must find fault in something, anything. You are just a pathetic follower who needs to get fucked. You see “fuck” has multiple uses. I hope I enlightened you because you obiously have been dwelling the dark ages.

    Heather,
The point of my rant was to get you thinking about unborn children haveing rights too. They are a living human even though they havn’t been born yet. There are so many forms of birth control today that you don’t have to have a child if you don’t want one. I feel very strongly about this issue because I feel it’s not any different than murder. I do agree with you that I am scared of the freedoms that we seem to loose each year in this country. I’m a conservative that believes in liberty and freedom. I don’t want a big government to tell us how to live. Most conservatives don’t. I don’t want the government sticking their nose in every decision we make. I feel strongly that we should be able to choose whatever life style we choose as long as it doesn’t hurt others. I also live in a state that has just passed a smoking ban. I don’t smoke but I believe in the right of someone to do it if they so choose. I’m not talking about taking away our right’s. I feel that liberals are attacking more right’s than conservatives. Like gun control and religion. A perfect example of this is the liberal organization known as the ACLU. They talk about preserving every American’s right’s but they also attack many of them. What is wrong with children learning about God? Whether you believe in God or not, what does it hurt for our children to grow up with good ideas and love in there hearts? What does believing in him hurt? We raise our children believing in Santa Clause. But we can’t get them to beleive in a God that is just and merciful? I believe in and worship God. It helps me through a difficult life. It helps me to respect others. And, I enjoy the thought of a peacful and wonderful afterlife. I ask again, What does that hurt??

But with that said, I still feel that abortion is murder. I’m sorry if that offends you. It is not my intent to insult you, I just want you to think about unborn children as the little people they are. I also agree with you that we need a much beter health care system in this country. I don’t think that Canada’s social healthcare system is the answer. If it was, they wouldn’t come to the U.S. to get health care. I don’t know what the proper answer is. There are much more intelligent people to find the answer than I.

Just think about it Heather, please. Our unborn children are people too and if we make them, they have a right to live. I know I brought up a lot of issues. I want you to understand that I and most of conservatives don’t want more government intrusion into our lives. But our government has an obligation to protect life. That is why I believe the government should get involved in the abortion issue and stop the murder of approximately 500,000 chilldren a year.

I hope you can understand my views and are not offended by my statements. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    God bless.

    Betty,
What’s best for our kids is a stable home. That doesn’t necessarily mean a “traditional” family. Would you rather stay married to an abusive alcoholic rather than divorce him simply because of your children? If that’s the case, then you have a long way to go in the maturity area. Being a single mother is not bad; it’s actually more responsible than staying married just because you have children. What an idiotic notion. And no, I’m not a single mom but I was unmarried when we had our kids. We are married now and have been for 5 1/2 years, together for 10. We did what was best for us and our children. Cookie cutter lifestyles just don’t work anymore…sorry to burst your bubble.

  • Betty
    Jan 6, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Good afternoon Heather and thank you for your comment, and for being respectful in responding.
A nice change of pace here.

I am speaking of myself and my situation, I have been raised to believe a lady does not sleep with a man until she is married, and that is how I am doing it. And before I do marry a Man, he must pass muster with my father, a retired Marine. Many have failed. But, my parents have been married 30 years. I trust their judgement. And believe me, Daddy is not the easiest man to get along with! Mom has had to put up with a lot. But they honor their wedding vows. I hope to do the same.

There was no “bubble” to burst Heather, I do believe in being a good, faithful wife and Mother, when I meet the right Man.

Wow Betty. That seems so 1950’s to me but who am I to pass judgment. To each their own. I suppose you don’t see those ideals much anymore and if that’s what you want then good luck in your journey. If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?

DH- The following is a poem by Max Ehrmann(1927)…my New Year’s present to you…
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

    Good evening.

  • Alex
    Jan 8, 2008 at 2:15 am

First off, sorry to those who had commented previously who had their comments go to moderation, that’s not supposed to happen.

And again, thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to read this and comment.

Fred and DH-Thanks for all the nice things you’ve said and yes, I’ll keep up this blog after my wife and I move to Amsterdam.

Betty-Your 23?!? Wow! From your comments I seriously thought you were around 70. Good news is that you still have time to wake up to this world.

Fritz says “I understand some simple minded adultsd can’t express themselves without using profanity.” Dude seriously, you think you are something beyond simple minded? Do you honestly think anything you’ve said here is in any way profound? I’ll answer that-no.

And Fritz, you say you have two teenage daughters right? And you read this post and singled out that I wrote “fuck” and you called me an idiot. Did you catch my drug reference in the post??

I wrote “Keith is high on crystal meth and lacks the patience to vote again.” But you missed that. You just saw “fuck” and the little red light in your head went flashing.

This is the problem with many that care about “moral fabrics” and what not. The bigger picture goes flying past their heads. They keep missing the pheasants!

I’ve read all the comments but I won’t comment on abortion and what not-there’s no point. I will say that people should watch out for labels because both sides of the aisle distort the other sides viewpoints to some extent. Things are not that black and white.

In fact, “liberals” are the equivalent of the Republican Party in countries like Australia and the UK. The equivalent of our Democrats is the Labor Party.

So the liberal party in these countries support many things that our Republican Party supports, lower taxes on business, etc. Yet in the US, many throw the word “liberal” around like it’s a dirty word.

“Liberal” and “Conservative” are not black and white. And we can obviously see that from the diverse comments on both sides.

  • Dan
    Jan 8, 2008 at 5:37 am

Alex-The “bigger picture” is exactly what I was referring to in my comments. The term “moral fabric” apparently carries some energy for you, so let’s instead call it something less confrontational for you…perhaps we can simply call it integrity, or character. You and many others here react almost violently when you are confronted with a call to rise to your greatness as a writer and cut the kid stuff ie. street talk….yes, you are an intelligent, talented writer. Why do feel the need to degrade your writing simply to appease this element that seems to mean so much to you. It reminds me of Blacks who down other Blacks for speaking “white”. Do you feel these people will no longer like you and think you’re cool? I’ve to news for you…they don’t like you anyway….they don’t even know you! They just want to see you in the ghetto/gutter along with them so they can feel better about themselves. They do not want to be confronted with having to be responsible for what they say or do or write. They don’t want to be responsible for anything…they just want to do what feels good to themselves…it’s all about them. Seriously, you do not need to pander to the lowest common denominator in order to find your audience. Your stuff is good enough, stand alone, without profanity. In fact, the point is, IT WOULD BE BETTER!…if you left it out. I can tell you with certainty that you are limiting your marketability by your use of the language, as well as the drug references you thought were so clever. It’s hurting you more than you realize. Then again, if that’s what floats your boat, knock yourself out. I’m just suggesting that you’re better than that.

Sorry if that ruffles anyone’s feathers, but then again, I didn’t mention anyone by name, and if the shoe fits, wear it. One final note…one guy, Fritz, makes one comment about the f word, and everybody’s coming out of the woodwork with vile disrespectful invective, adding in their own baggage about their politics…abortion??? what the hell does abortion have to do with the topic at hand? The guy made one…simple…comment…and almost everybody jumps him and assigns him all of their worst fears, prejudices, and hatred. It’s been amusing, but I have to say, it’s the same old stuff on too many blogs. Lots of people who wouldn’t have a peep to say in real life, but who are animals on-line. As I stated in my first comment, grow up, ya’ll. The stakes are high for all of us…words mean something. How we think…how clearly and effectively we communicate is critical. My call is to lift the boat higher for all of us…to clean up our collective act. There is no “them” really…there is only “us”. We can do better.

    A couple of final points.
Betty - In twenty years from now you will be 43, still a virgin and still obviously not married. But at least you still will not have said fuck.

Fritz - In twenty years from now you still will be blinded by the tree unable to see the forest. Your teenage daughters will be fuck-ups as a result of your poor parenting resulting in a broken home. Also Mr. Fritz your candidate Huckabee is a disgrace. He forgot his religous theme in New Hampshire. I see he is only religious in states that plays well. Religous by convience, hmmmmm. What a guy Huckabee is.

Dan - Issues aside, thanks for the poem, it is worth reading twice. Hope you enjoyed the playoffs. Jacksonville v Pittsburgh was a barn burner.

Alex - I am so happy you will be maintaining this blog when you move to Amerstdam. You have a gift which whether one agrees with the topic or not of presenting an issue fairly in an entertaining fashion. All the best to you and your wife in Amerstdam.

Pheasants- Aren’t you glad you are dead and did not have to be subjected to some of this shit.

P.S. Fritz and Betty keep saving the children (from what I do not know).

  • Dan
    Jan 8, 2008 at 8:28 pm

I can’t speak for Fritz, as I’m not him. I do wish he had made his point and not ended it with the word “Idiot”. That was not only disrespectful, and really damaged anyone’s ability to see his point, but it in fact detracted from his communication, which happens to be my one, and only point. The f word is not a capital offense…every kid in the nation has heard it and probably used it by the time they’re 10. I know I did. It’s not exactly news. Maybe it’s just something that happens when one gets old and becomes a parent, like me. It’s just a call for taking the high road…showing some professionalism on the web…having some class. Alex was correct in pointing out that that is the flavor he chooses for his site, and it’s a free country and he’s entitled to do that. I had an initial reaction because it was front and center on Yahoo, which, as he pointed out, was not even his doing.

How we think…is how we speak. Love will never rule the planet when every other thought we have starts with “f…ing jerk, this…” or
    “well, f… him then”.
That being said, Fritz, buddy, you brought most, if not all of it on yourself when you went and dropped the “I” (idiot) bomb in your initial message to Alex. See what happens?

DH, really glad you enjoyed the poem, and really appreciate your saying so. See, I knew you were all right;). Since we’re having all this fun about the f word, did you know that it originated back in feudal England? The king was kind of a control freak, and he had to give his subjects permission to “do it”. If you wanted to do your wife and had permission from the king, the guy had to hang a placard outside the door at night with the initials F.U.C.K. …which stood for Fornication Under the Concent of the King. How about that?

  • Dan
    Jan 8, 2008 at 8:44 pm

Betty, I apologize…you probably did not use the f word by the time you were 10. I should not have generalized.

Just a word to you…I admire the fact that you have a stand in the world. I’m sure you realize that it runs counter to mainstream America, as evidenced by the flack you have received in this blog. I encourage you to stand your ground in those facets of your life that are important to you, and do it for yourself. I am the father of a young woman not much younger than you. I give her advice, sure, but her life is her own, and so is yours. I’m guessing your Daddy loves you like I love my daughter, but as I tell her, she has to be able to stand on her own in the real world. You seem to be able to do that just fine on the blog. I hope you can to that when you are talking to your Daddy as well. You’re a big girl now, and I mean that respectfully. You don’t want to end up with a man who doesn’t respect you as a person, one with your own dreams and opinions. Not that any of this is any of my business, just a thought.

Regarding the topic of abortion it is needed in the USA. Abortion would be useful in eliminating plagues on our society such as Hillary Clinton & Fritz. Abortion though is something you never have to worry about Betty. BTW, Betty how are the rats and mld spores and leaks and just plain filth at Walter Reed VA Hospital? How is cover-up Kiley doing thses days?

Sorry I said Fuck kiddies. Now go back to your fucking porn, fucking chat rooms and fucking Jamie Lynn Spears websites. Fritz feels more comfortable about that.

Thanks for all the comments today DH and Dan. And Dan, yeah, thanks for that poem, I’d read that a long time ago but it was great to read it again.

Dan-You’re talking about censorship here. And you feel that my use of profanity takes away from my writing. I don’t agree.

My all time favorite book is “Catch-22″ by Joseph Heller. Have you read it? It’s absolutely hilarious and makes a total mockery of war and society. Do you know what else it’s filled with? LOADS of swearing and adult themes, prostitution, etc. It’s also a classic piece of American literature and many regard it as one of the most important books of the 20th century.

I cherish that book and wish I had the talent to write something like that-profanity, prostitution, drugs and all.

But perhaps I can write a clean, mediocre book and make Oprah’s book club or something. Hmm…

People get riled up about politics/social issues, it’s heated! So it’s no surprise that lots of people on here have gotten pissed on several occasions, myself included.

I’ve been writing on this blog for over a year and during that time I’ve had way more nasty comments than random really nice ones. Usually, comments fall in between.

So Dan, while I don’t agree with the general gist of what you’re saying as far as how it applies to me, thanks for the compliments.

And DH, thanks for all the great comments on not only this post but on other posts on this site!

My goodness, I can’t believe some folks are still here chewing me out for expressing my opinion! It sure sparked a lot of emotions. But I was just honestly expressing my opinion. And don’t worry about my kids, they are doing great. In fact my son graduates later this year and wants me to be there at his graduation, then he plans to go on to college. I am very proud of him. He is a well-mannered and respectful young man. And my daughter is also doing just fine and is also respectful and well-mannered.

    Goodnight all, time for work.

Mr DH, in 20 years from now I expect to be married and have a family. I write to a guy who is in Iraq right now, and we have become close. I explained about myself to him and he respects that. So please don’t concern yourself with my welfare, worry about you own sir.

  • Dickhead
    Jan 9, 2008 at 10:37 pm

I should not concern myself with your welfare? You know what you are right. Guess what though, you should stop trying to control others or asking our government to try and control others. I do not pay our elected officials to tell gay people how to live or why people ahould not be allowed an abortion. I pay them to balance a budget, manage our foreign affairs representing our interests, not dictating to others (such as the people of Iraq) and for heavens sake trying to shrink our Government instead of expanding it which drains all of our income and GDP. I pay them to enact laws that will protect all to pursue, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not to vilify people that your Daddy does not like.

In twenty years you will still be a spinster.
Have a nice day Betty, try to focus on yourself and not others. Good luck in your endeavor.

Mr. DH, I also am a taxpayer, and I expect the same things from government as you and I also expect the government to protect the nation from lawmakers and judges who ignore the values that keep us strong, such as traditional marriage and the family structure.

I want our Government to keep us safe first and foremost. That is certainly what has happened since 9-11. But we have to remain focused on protecting the unborn and the sanctity of marriage.

Well, I guess most, if not all of my comments have fallen upon deaf ears. I didn’t figure I could change any minds here. I must disagree with you Alex, while not all Liberals or Conservatives think the same, some of the general issues I brought up are “hot topics” of the political world. I’m also not sure why you where refering to other nations political systems because I was speaking of ours, here in the U.S. I have been involved in many political debates with thousands of people and Liberals and Conservatives do follow a “party line”. I didn’t mean to get off subject with my last two posts but I just get frustrated with some of the comments here. I do want to say that whatever your political views, I still found your original explanation of a caucus extremely amusing. While I am proudly part of the Religious Right, I don’t mind the use of profanity when it is not directed at an individual. I look forward to more laughs. By the way people, can’t we all just get along?

the45auto-The reason I chose not to comment on abortion is because I am pro-choice, and no you’re not going to sway me on that.

I didn’t say these issues weren’t hot topics, on the contrary, I said they were hot topics and that’s why I chose to ignore a debate on abortion. And I’m not going to debate it, just stating my views and why I ignored the comments on that.

And the labels…I was talking about this on another post. Regardless of other countries labels there is a difference between social and economic conservatives and “liberal” spawned from libertarian which is more closely associated with a wing of the Republican Party.

The labels are bullshit and often used incorrectly. Many people don’t know why they believe what they believe and often vote against their economic interests (this is one of the biggest tragedies of our “democracy” in my opinion). By the way, we are a republic. If we were a democracy we would be out of Iraq now.

Thank you for complimenting my post, but I on the other hand am proud to be a “liberal.” Proud to be American, but not proud of our government right now.

WOW, I have been reading some of your other blogs. You are sure leaning left. Fuck, I’d say you have fallen clear over left. To each their own. I guess I picked the wrong blog to participate in. Fuck me. And you seem to talk as if you are neutral here. I guess you need to scratch my last comment about looking forward to reading any more of this. Later lefty.

Oh, and Alex, even though you and I are obviously different, I still stand behind the fact that your blog started out extremely amusing. Stay with comedy, I’m sorry I got “political”. I apolagize for sounding rude on the above comment. People are just different, aren’t they.

  • Alex
    Jan 10, 2008 at 11:33 pm

the45auto-I make fun of both sides, especially these days.

The reason I finally brought up my views were because, in a previous comment you said fuck liberals and then in one a few days later you said, can’t we all just get along?

I get serious in my comments when other people get serious but yeah I prefer comedy, pretty much every post I write (which is about 6-7 a week has a comedic angle).

But I can’t throw my history degree out the window, the fact that I’ve visited 29 countries (including Vietnam) and have lived overseas.

Politics is serious but it’s also a big joke, so I think it’s really important to laugh at it when possible.

Anyways, thanks for the comments and for having a look around my site.

Alex-I’m not calling for censorship. This public blog is far different than penning Catch 22. However, I am clear that you have the right to run your website as you please. Somehow I started down the wrong path right from the start…I should have taken up the issue with Yahoo for placing the link to your site right there on the home page. That was wrong on their part. Just as a TV network has an obligation to monitor it’s content, so should Yahoo. The link to your site should never have been placed there without a rating, just as there is in the movies. You yourself referred to it as PG-13. I would have to say R, due to the extensive profanity bordering on violence that followed your article. There is a place for almost all forms of expression, and I think your site is what it is…entertaining.

So, let me apologize and take back what I said about using the f word on your site. Bottom line is, you have a perfect right to express yourself as you please. And I have the right to express myself to Yahoo, making it clear that sites such as yours should come with a rating. This is not censorship…it is done in other media. It is, however, a way to warn parents about sites that are not apporpriate, so that they don’t end up on the raunchy sites that DH has often points out are currently being viewed by kids.

I just realized that that was a hell of a long road to make the point I was trying to make originally. That is, there should be a way to protect kids as much as possible from the adult content on the Web, while not infringing on the rights of adults to express themselves. That is an issue to take up with Yahoo, not you Alex. I defend your right to have your site, yet, since I feel it deserves an R rating, I will express myself to Yahoo to make sure your site, and others like it will not ever be made so available on Yahoo in the future. I will also let the advertizers know how I feel about it, and discourage them from supporting Yahoo as long as they indiscriminately promote sites like this without a parental warning. Then, I rally other sites who have similar views, get them to enact legislation, and we will eventually have a rating system for the Web. You express yourself, I express myself. We express ourselves. This is how the real world works. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing.

Typically, a company or an industry will monitor and regulate itself it an effort to thwart the above process…the thought being that if they come up with their own regulatory measures, that will be more favorable than if they stonewall and let someone else, ie. lawmakers, regulate them. Again, you currently have the right to let it rip as you please, and again, I feel you should, however eventually you will draw enough heat due to such lack of constraint rampant on the Web, and there will be a rating system implemented. Even worse (depending on your point of view) there will soon be technology that will deem content inappropriate according to community standards. That would make you liable for a lawsuit in the Bible Belt (Iowa). That will really make some of the libs’ heads spin. Aren’t you glad you’re moving to Amsterdam? All the hash and prostitutes money can buy, and I bet they don’t give a rip if their three year olds say “F… you Mommy, I don’t do vegetables!”

the45auto-Thank you! And that makes me really happy that I put a smile on your face. I’ve always enjoyed making people laugh! :)

Dan-Wow! Yes please tell Yahoo and whoever you can about how outrageous my site is and how it deserves an “R” rating. Something this outrageous deserves to be shared on CNN!! Please write to CNN and ask them to expose me. Thank you Dan!

And by the way Dan, the legal age for prostitution in the Netherlands is 18 and they are trying to raise it to 21, so umm no, it is not 3.

That a boy Dan, you go tell the teacher that Alex used a swear word.

It’s admirable that you are so concerned for your children’s well being. Kudos to you my friend. But from what I see in America today, most parents don’t even check to see their kids brushing their teeth(sarcasm) My own sister refused to spank her children. One day while I was watching her kids, the niece did something to me that was wrong, she was acting out. I knew it was coming, and when it did, I grabbed her firmly by tha arm, and said, “your parents don’t spank you, but in my house we do. Now go to my room and stay there for an hour.” She’s now 22 yrs old and calls me just to say hi and see what we’re up to. Unfortunately she doesn’t have the same relationship with her mother.

The jist of this is, it seems most parents aren’t like you and proactive in their childrens lives. it seems to be easier for them to be reactive, so again, kudos to you. It’s also great that you realize it’s futile to go off on an author for doing what he obviously loves to do, and will continue.
I honestly didn’t even notice the word that was offensive to you. I did however notice the clever and concise writing style of this talented author. Have you gotten Huck Finn out of the libraries yet?

  • Bellie
    Jan 12, 2008 at 3:42 pm

    Dan,
Have you thought about channeling all that energy into, well I don’t know, something more proactive than worrying about the f-word? The big bad internet has way worse content then the odd swear word thrown in article and kids have plenty of access to that stuff too. I mean turn on the TV shouldn’t the news come with a rating? I know I’d rather have my hypothetical kid see the f-word written in something interesting than any of the disturbing scenes from Iraq you see on TV. But hey that’s just my 2 cents.

  • Alex
    Jan 13, 2008 at 12:12 am

Thanks for having my back here Ed and Bellie. I most appreciate this!

Dan-I’m really bothered by this and here’s why. I’ve been working to build this site for over a year and this post has drawn the most attention of any of my posts, a mini break for my writing if you will. And here you come along and want to crush my site, if you can. I hope Yahoo doesn’t care but if they lower my ranking that means not as many people will find my site and that takes my work a step backwards.

I really hope this turns around to bite you in the ass because you deserve it. I thought you were a decent guy but you’re clearly a jerk-plain and simple.

I used to want to be a teacher but because of people like you there’s just no way. It’s better for kids to have boring teachers so they skip class to go get stoned under the football bleachers.

But honestly please write to CNN and tell them about how awful my site is. I would love to make it on CNN!!!

    Jan 15, 2008 at 12:17 am

Thanks for having my back Fred. And sorry about your comments going to moderation, I honestly have no idea why that is happening.

Yeah I don’t get Dan, at first he acted like he was trying to help me, saying this site would be bigger and better without profanity which is completely ridiculous since I barely use profanity on this site anyways.

Constructive criticism is one thing, but I don’t deem removing one “f” word as that. And if he wants to attack a site he should go after someone bigger like http://www.wonkette.com That is a big political site and they are crude and profane as hell (and by the way that’s why I enjoy that site Dan).

Dan needs to worry about bigger things-like the fact that there is genocide everyday in this world and lots of children in the USA go hungry every day. Dan, if you want a “cause” you should seriously consider something else.

But yeah, if you can manage to throw some publicity my way, please do so Dan!

Hey guys, I just want to point out an extremely funny and hypocritical comment Fritz made on this post http://www.sirened.com/is-ron-paul-racist#comment-1941

I do need to ask though, please tone down the name calling, the site has already gotten a bit out of hand with that.

  • Dan
    Jan 15, 2008 at 2:14 am

Alex-You’re a funny guy! In one sentence you call me a jerk (and I have been nothing but respectful and complimentary to you and your writing) and on the other hand, you call for your homies to tone down the name calling? What up, my brotha?

Alex, it really doesn’t matter whether you thought I was a a good guy or not…the important thing is, I gave you valuable feedback on the way the real world works. I do have better things to do than waste my time taking your particular site down, so relax. If you are as smart as I think you are, you will re-read what I wrote in my last post. No, I’m not going to bother with you, but eventually somebody will. That was the point…it was an example of how things work in the big people’s world. Personally, I’ve got bigger fish to fry. I just happen to like you, and your writing, and thought I’d engage you a bit. Don’t be bothered…just listen. Being a blogger is one thing…being a great author is another. People on this blog, by the way, often don’t comprehend what they read, they simply react emotionally. I am not “offended” by the f word, but lots of people are, and you are choosing to open yourself up to everything that comes your way if you choose that path. Again, I encourage you to take the high road, and be great by using great writing and great language. By pandering to the majority of the people who have responded to this blog, you are clearly choosing to write for absolute illiterates. Is that really what you want?

I’m getting bored with the conversation, to tell you the truth. You don’t seem to get that I’m on your side, and simply want you to be the best writer you can be. So again, good luck, good writing, and I hope to read your great American novel someday, chock full of f bombs, or whatever makes you happy.

And you Fritz are a sorry hypocrite, who does not have the morals to stand for anything.
You are a pathetic little man.

Stop blaming others for your miserable existence. Alex may have pointed something out, but it is you sir that was the one on your very own that put their foot in their mouth. No one provoked or encouraged your strange behavior that you exhibited but yourself.
    I pity you, really!

  • Alex
    Jan 15, 2008 at 4:58 am

Fritz-Dude, I’ve never once done that on this site before, but seriously, can’t you see why I would make an exception here?

Dan-Considering some of the stuff you said, the word “jerk” wasn’t too bad. I don’t consider that an escalated tone by any stretch. You made some valid points in your previous comment, but then ended it awfully poorly. Just because Dutch people are generally more tolerant doesn’t mean they allow their 3 year olds to swear.

If the internet were to be regulated and they came out with an official ratings system, that’s fine. But as it stands, there is no rating system or regulation. If you want to work on that, that’s cool, that means nobody like Fritz can come on and have any valid reason to make an issue out of one word and then get all the attention that he’s gotten.

And Fritz is clearly enjoying something here to come back and make that comment on the other post.

And also Dan, throwing out the occasional “f” bomb does not mean I’m “choosing to write for absolute illiterates.” Come on now. You have some good advice, but that’s way overboard.

Fred-Thanks for having my back! I liked that midget comment on the other post, hehe.

Fred-Thanks for not blowing up at Fritz. It’s really not worth it. It’s high time we ignore him. Fritz needs a hobby that doesn’t involve bugging people, which he just admitted he takes pleasure in. Anyways, thanks for all your comments on this site Fred.

  • fred
    Jan 16, 2008 at 5:33 am

Alex, Thank you for your wonderful blog. I see no need to beat on Fritz, apparently life has does a good enough job to make him so convoluted and bitter.
Anyway, these caucuses and primaries are driving me crazy. I do not want Huckabee, and more so I do not want Clinton. All else the jury is still out for me. I am astonished that with 300,000,000+ million people we can not come up with a worthy candidate right now. I am sorry to say I don’t see one on the horizon until we take the money out of our politics.

    Your friend Fred,
A Republican who likes your blog and still cracks up at the what is a caucus article.

  • Alex
    Jan 16, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Alex-Fred brings up a good thought…you really shouldn’t beat on Fritz. Here is my reasoning…

If you scroll back over the comments in response to your “What is a Caucus?” article, you will find that 90% of the comments have nothing to do with your clever, well-written article. In fact, the majority of comments are emotional, juvenile, imbecillic reactions to Fritz’s objection to the use of the f word. You mentioned that this was the most successful blog you have done to date, yet the responses have little to do with your actual topic. This is not a criticism, but an observation.

The thought occurred to me that you really ought to write Fritz a thank you note. If it weren’t for him, this whole conversation would likely have been over a day or two after your posting of the article. People have read their own frustrations, fears, and prejudices into his comments, and gone off in every direction…abortion, right wingers, Cheney, Bush, Iraq…you name it. All this just because he made a comment about using the f word and how that relates to kids’. He made the mistake of calling you and idiot…his bad…but you could have chosen to stick to the topic. Instead, you got your feelings hurt. Alex, as a writer…especially as a writer who fancies himself as “edgy” and defends off-color language, you have got to toughen up. I have spent too much time already in an attempt to help you out because I saw what I thought was a mature, well-developed thought process in your original article. Gotta say, your reaction i.e. running to the arms of the Freds of the world, for comfort when you catch a little flack, has been disappointing.

In martial arts, in the NFL, and in life…it’s the one who keeps their cool who prevails. Focus seems to be lacking somehow, in your defense of mindless emotional outbursts such as Fred’s, and many others on this blog who have demonstrated their lack of emotional maturity. You do not have to agree with everyone…in fact, it’s the various points of view that make life interesting. However, your utter disrespect of those who take the time to respond to your blog, but disagree, is inexcusable. Again, it has been those who have disagreed with you (at least your use of the f word) that have MADE this the most successful blog you have ever done. Think about it…if you allow yourself and your other guest bloggers to be so vile as they have been to Fritz, Betty, and myself, why the f… should we bother to write? Maybe you would be happy if everybody who wrote in agreed with everything you said…it that what you want? I guarantee you, it would be pretty boring stuff. It’s the dialogue, the give and take, the intellectual jousting, that brings truth to the surface…and it’s also what makes for interesting reading in a blog.

One last point…you question my comment about writing for “absolute illiterates”. Just ask yourself about the intellectual level of someone who types “What the f… is a causus?” into a search bar. They are either searching for porn and caught you by mistake, or they just don’t have much going on upstairs. Either way, you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel if that is truly the audience you are after. Being placed front and center on Yahoo that day could in fact be your lucky break as a writer. Are you willing to risk blowing it and having some “jerk” like me complain? You could have left out just a few words and references and had your article circulated throughout the land…because it was clever and informative. Instead, you had to be cute and pander to the lowest common denominator, and all you got out of the deal was this blog. You have, in my opinion, underestimated yourself, and set your sites far too low. Yes, there are thousands of blogs out there that use all kinds of language…guess you desire to be just another one in the crowd. If the best you can do is resort to name calling when you feel the slightest push-back, and can’t appreciate a little constructive critique, you are not the writer I thought you were.

    Jan 16, 2008 at 7:58 pm

I just left a really long comment and when I went I went to send it it got deleted. So I’m going to condense this.

Fred-Yeah this process is dizzying and frustrating. I’ve been meaning to write a “what is a delegate post?” hehe

Dan-Actually this isn’t my most successful post traffic wise, it’s this one http://www.sirened.com/un-names-iceland-as-the-best-country-to-live#comment-1967 that I did end of Nov. It hasn’t had as many comments but someone just left a comment today.

This has been my most successful post as far as the comments, the traffic would have been close to the same regardless. But I loved getting all the comments, I’ve been looking for a more active dialogue on this site.

The reason I called you a jerk Dan is because I depend on yahoo for my traffic, I get an average of around 800 visitors a day these days with occasional spikes like this post.

Anyways, let’s drop the debate here. I appreciate you guys reading, enjoying and commenting on this site and please feel free to drop a little comment on another post. But let’s leave this one be. Thanks guys.

Wish what I wrote before didn’t get deleted, there was more.

Alex, and all who have recognized my strong convictions. Thank You.

Look, I don’t care, square one, what you all think of me. I say what I mean.

I think that most of you are likely liberals…sad.

So do not expect me to whine about anything, as you all seem to do.

Alex-Don’t you just hate it when you get your thoughts out, just right, and something happens and it gets deleted?!! I’m curious, but at the same time, I’m sure it will come back to you. Perhaps you can use it in another blog topic.

I can say I’ve never spent the amount of time as I have with this one, but I appreciate the invitation to visit your future work, and I will indeed. Also, happily agree to give this one a rest!

Thanks again for the original article…I’m sure there will be plenty to write about in the upcoming months. Suggestion: I’m thinking you could do a great job in explaining the Iraq situation, all the players, and where we go from here, with some humor. It’s so complex, most people have no clue what’s going on, and what is at stake. Be careful though, you don’t want to end up like another great writer, Salman Rushdie!

Fred-I don’t blame you for going off on Fritz that time. It appears that Fritz’s best skill in life is knowing how to intentionally piss people off. Fritz got backed in a corner but he’s out again, throwing some weak jabs-in typical clumsy fashion.

Dan-Thanks for the nice words about me writing about Iraq. That’s the kindof advice I’m looking for-having readers make suggestions of things I should write about. I stay away from Iraq these days because it’s a difficult issue to make humorous, it’s polarizing and it’s depressing. What makes me happiest is writing comedy and in Amsterdam I’ll finish one of the books I’ve started (I struggle to be in a novel writing mood in Florida).

Fritz-Let’s get something straight. I said nothing about believing in your “strong convictions.” Fritz, you are a total fucking moron. Dan accidentally typed Alex instead of his own name and wasn’t speaking of your “strong convictions” but said I should thank you for the comment thread.

Dan, I don’t think it takes anything away from my writing to be human and to get upset at morons like Fritz. Mindless drones with no sense of humor piss me off. I don’t associate with the Fritz’s of this world more than I have to. Fritz is nothing but a mindless pawn of Big Brother.

There are smart, calculated human beings in this world that control the Fritz types in order to get whatever they want. Fritz, you are a mindless fucking storm trooper, you are a pawn and you truly now disgust me.

By the way Fritz, you are more likely to die in a fucking bath tub than be killed by terrorists you small ignorant man.

I want to thank and compliment whoever wrote the nice words about my involvement here. I have always tried my best to be a gentlemen here, despite offering honest, well-mannered criticism. It is sad that I got (basically) attacked and cursed out for little more than offering a differing opinion on things, how sad, especially in our democracy.

I believe there are some very, very immature persons here and (some) sad excuses for Republicans.

But to think you have heard the last of me here…naw…not gunna happen.

To Mr. Fritz, Thank you for being a gentleman.
I read a lot of blogs and I rarely respond. However, this one somehow peaked my interest.

Fritz-You are a joke. You said “I have always tried my best to be a gentlemen here, despite offering honest, well-mannered criticism.” You called me an idiot in your first comment douche bag!

And to this “But to think you have heard the last of me here…naw…not gunna happen.” Umm yeah dude, that’s exactly what’s going to happen because this is my site and all your future comments will be deleted. Congratulations on being the first person to EVER get banned from Sirened Fritz!

Most blogs would have banned you along time ago but I’ve been very patient in allowing you to spew crap that has little substance to it.

I like hearing differing opinions when there is substance involved, but Fritz and Betty, I am way beyond sick of both of you. You tools are now spamming my site with your garbage and that will not be tolerated. I will not have my readers who appreciate this site be turned off by jackoffs like you.

Fritz you are a fucking joke, I asked that the debate here end and you deliberately attacked me and other readers on this site afterwards. You have shown zero respect for me from the get go so why in the fuck would I respect you? Bye bye Fritz, go annoy another website and their readers you fucking joke of a man.

And Betty, congrats on being the second person to ever get banned from this site. I’m just tired of responding to your ignorance, it’s an absolute waste of my time.

Check this out guys, now that Fritz has been banned he asked this (his comment was deleted as promised) “Why do you establish a blog, ask a question and then Censor any one/anthing you disagree with??”

Yeah, clearly I’m all about the censorship! What a joke of a man.

Funny how Fritz started spamming the site today since he saw me FINALLY get totally fed up with him. I was largely ignoring him beforehand since so many people were attacking him anyways.

Fritz=Jealous loser with nothing better to do.

I’m so glad you and Betty are done here. But since this country is a “democracy” go start your own website together, may I suggest AnnoyingWasteofSpace.com

    Hi Alex,

I have missed your site for a while due to the passing away of my Father. Even though he was ill for a while, it still was a shock and quite tough but I am trudging forward. He, my dad, would have been irate if I didn’t move on; he was such a special and unique person. Maybe if you start a thread of what Brokaw called “The Greatest Generation”, I can post his unique story and how strong a man he was.

Well today is my first day back here and I just am catching up on this thread.

A couple of thoughts and please excuse the brutal honesty.
Fritz, you are a piss ant of a man. You are so clueless and self delusional, and bless Alex for banning your horrid, warped rants. Regarding your comment Fritz, about immature and “sad excuses for Republicans” I assume that was directed towards me since I have openly stated my strong affiliation to the Republican Party. If not me though, I assume you have the same sentiments for MR. DH.

Well truth is told you my friend are in a bit of a quandary, my Republican beliefs are rooted in less dependence from Government, but on one issue mostly, I despise my party from trying to legislate morality. Government is not there for that and since most of these so called “law makers” from both sides of the aisle can not accept that the laws they legislate apply to them too, they should honor what our Country stands for which is freedom and independence, not abortion and gay marriages.

Unfortunately Fritz you are such a fucking moron you will need someone will a marginal IQ to explain this to you.

And while I am here, I have not forgotten my dear misguided Betty who sounds more and more like she is making a hostage tape for Daddy.

Well Betty, although today is February 1, 2008 and I don’t have to wait to “Super Tuesday” to tell you that you are looking at Clinton versus McCain. Where is your bible thumping Huckabee? Grant it I am not a McCain fan, per se, but it is not because of the “morality issues”. In fact those are probably the issues that may make me vote for him.

So chubby Betty, you take your McCain who thinks we should be in Iraq for 100 years or the “I WILL SAY ANYTHING TO EMPOWER ME” Hillary Clinton for at least 4 years. However, make sure you care for daddy and preserve your sacred obese body. Maybe someday when you are old an infirmed a mentally disturbed orderly will have intercourse with you just to satisfy a perverse fetish.

Alex, sorry for being gruff, but I am sickened by these people. While you and I may never agree politically, I can guarantee that I am much more humanely aligned with you.

Thanks for the time Alex, I missed stopping by.

    Sincerely,
    Fred

Fred-Sorry to hear about your father. I hear in your words the respect you had for him.

I see my father growing old, as I am, and hope to spend tomorrow watching the Super Bowl with him. We are Cheeseheads to the bone, but watching the game with him, even though he likes to kill the sound on the commercials (which just annoys the shit out of me) will be a good afternoon.

We are all here for a short time. I’m guessing I’m older than you at 52, but feel a connection with you and others on this blog. We are all connected, all in this together, and without delivering a sermon, the bottom line is that we will all sink or swim together. We had better hope and/or pray for whoever wins this coming election…for their success as a leader of this country. We are in tough times, as I see it, and division will not get us out of this mess. After the election is over, I’m calling on all to unite as one…the hatespeak is a luxury that, I say with some concern, we can no longer afford.

    Again, sorry for your loss.

    Dan

    Dan,

That was so well put and so true. You suspected right on the age issue but not by much I am 50.
There is nothing I can add to any of your commentary, everything was so well put and so vital at this time.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope you and your Dad enjoy the game. I hate to tell you but I am a Giant fan. But we respect the long rich history of Green Bay’s organization and their phenomanal fans. The Giant D really was smothering at the end. Regardless of the outcome, which you might think that is easy for me to say now, it was good old fashioned football at the great Lambeau field. Trust me Giant fans respect “cheeseheads”.

Again thank you for your kind words and I wish you and your Dad a great day tomorrow.

    Fred

Fred-I’m really sorry about your Dad. That’s a terrible loss and I wish you the best during these times, and yes I’ve missed your comments on this blog. Congratulations on the Giants winning the Super Bowl though. I was rooting hard for them too as I am a HUGE Buffalo Bills fan (sigh) and well, the Patriots have owned them of late and I’ve found it very annoying to see them continue to win. I gotta hand it to Eli, he proved almost everyone wrong, including myself.

Fred, I try to make the site more funny these days but if you’d like to write an actual guest post about “the greatest generation” and your Dad I will publish it on this site end of Feb/beginning of March (I was going to start asking other bloggers and readers as my wife and I are moving then and it would be nice to have some guest posts on here anyways). If you do it I’ll include your name and a short bio about yourself (whatever you want). I really respect what you have to say so it would be great if you were down. Let me know.

Dan-Great to see you back too. And I totally agree, whoever the next president is needs to find a way to bring this country together more. We’re so fractured right now.

Anyways, all the best guys and talk soon. And hey, maybe we can start a new thread on the “what is a delegate post?” Let me know what you guys think :)

Alex, Thank you for your kind words and offer that is so thoughtful. I may just take you up on it I am going to give it some serious thought.

Further I see whatever our political party affiliations or however else the media likes to catergorize us at least we, Dan, yourself and I and I am sure many others do recognize this great divide is terrible and will be all of our’s demise if we do not become united.

On a lighter note, man do I love the Giants. And trust me, I disliked Eli. I loved how the “D” shut down the Packers and Dallas late in both games. However, after last night, I must say Eli proved his worth and then some. WOW! And the catch by Tyree, go figure.

Alex, the delegate post would be a blast go for it.

    Your Friend,
    Fred

P.S. I am so glad I stumbled across this blog all due to my quest for a better understanding of how a caucus works. Your a good guy Alex. I only hope the best for you.

Absolutely Fred. Thanks for the kind words yourself! Thank you for coming on this site and adding your great insight. And if you’d like to do that post just email it to me at alexkallimanis@gmail.com

And yeah, I really thought the Giants would win that game beforehand-they had the WAY tougher road to the Super Bowl and were hot at the right time (ala the Steelers of 2 years ago). It’s just unfortunate that those 72′ Dolphins still get to gloat now!!

I still think the best Super Bowl was XXV, even though my Bills came up short. I think that was just as big an upset. Bills were 9 point favs over the Giants and they had won the AFC Championship game 52-10. They didn’t eek into the Super Bowl like the Pats, they were dominating going in, plus the Giants played that game with Hostetler at QB. I was 12 and shocked and crushed that my Bills lost that game.

Anyways, glad you stumbled on this site too Fred! Great to have you!

    Your friend, Alex
