Where Was Stephen Colbert at Last Night’s Democratic Debates?

by Alex on October 31st, 2007

Here we see Stephen Colbert on Meet The Press with Tim Russert back on October 21st discussing his presidential bid (sponsored by delicious and zesty nacho cheese Doritos). Last night, Tim Russert, along with NBC nightly news anchor Brian Williams moderated a democratic debate at Drexel University on MSNBC. Problem was, Stephen Colbert was the only candidate that did not attend, along with Mike Gravel, but he does not count since he is polling much further down than zesty nacho cheese Doritos themselves.

One can only assume that Stephen Colbert is using the “Fred Thompson Model” of presidential candidacy, one in which you do not show up for debates and do as little as possible in your bid to be president. It’s working pretty well for Thompson, often saying as few substantial things as possible is the best way to get elected president-see George Bush. I mean seriously, if you say lots of substantial stuff you are bound to piss people off and thus they will not vote for you. So it’s either better to not say substantial things or not be a substantial person.

Anyways, Stephen Colbert is polling in a statistical dead heat with Joe Biden for 4th place, only behind Hillary, Obama and Edwards. An Edwards spokesperson recently called out Stephen Colbert in South Carolina for taking money from the delicious makers of zesty nacho cheese Doritos. In reality, I believe John Edwards is just jealous that he does not have a zesty mouth watering explosion of flavor sponsor like Stephen Colbert has with zesty nacho cheese Doritos.

Alex, is this your job? If so, take it seriously and spare us this pap in the future. If you have something of substance to say, say it. Otherwise, don’t submit the story.

Norm-Sorry the post did not meet your substance standards. But speaking of substance, have you recently had any deliciously zesty nacho cheese Doritos?

so which candidates do the other flavors of Doritos support? Or are they not into politics… I suppose “cool ranch” just feels too cool to care, huh

Denise-Yeah, I think what’s really been lost in all this is the opinions of the other flavors of Doritos.

I think “cool ranch” might support Mitt Romney actually. Mitt dresses like a cool cat with his expensive suits and done up hair and talks tough about protecting the homeland (so the ranch too). I mean deep down Romney’s a real tool that wants to torture and destroy everything and won’t keep the ranch any safer, but how is “cool ranch” supposed to interpret all this? It’s just a potato chip.
